just an fyi... be real careful with msi rebates... they denied me (one of two denials last year out of 43 rebates i did) because i put the 30 character long bullshit code that you had to put on the envelope on the back of the envelope instead of the front - and nowhere did it say that it had to be on the front... and after one response they won't even email me back anymore... i'm sent my ag a letter about it...

Is this a good upgrade from an 880GT?

depending on the oc on the 8800... supposed to be a smaller die; less power; maybe quieter fan; higher stock clock... the extra memory may help a bit on some things, but the card's not really strong enough to run 1080p res, imho, and 512 is generally plenty up to 1680x1050...

but could be a ok incremental upgrade if you get a reasonable price for your 8800...

That sounds like a Myrebates411 stunt, writing extra junk on the envelope. This deal looks like an in-house MSI rebate. I like MSI products, but had to hound them for an in-house rebate a few years back.
