Staples has this drive (SKU #444012) for $99.99. Add that Microsoft trial disk for .01 and use Staples coupon $30 off $100. Staples has free shipping over $50 so all you pay is $70 + tax in your state.

edit: well, boys and girls, apparently you can snag that ATA100 card for free after rebates with the purchase of this drive.

I received the drive from the Muskegon store today. The Staples website says:
Maxtor 20gb 5,400 rpm
512 KB Cache Buffer
< 9.5 ms average seek time
ATA 66

I received this:
Maxtor 20gb 5,400 rpm
2 MB Cache Buffer
< 9.0 average seek time
ATA 100

Added a box of paper clips, and entered the 30 off of 100. Checking out showes $70 and change.

It could be out of stock in dumbredneck's zip code. Seems to be in stock for me in the West LA area.

Nevermind, its out of stock here too.

I sent e-mail after placing the order and they said that Staples and Staples.com are different, and they would not add the 32MB SDRAM since this was specifically for the B&M stores. Oh well, $70 for a brand new 20GB kit (rails and ATA66/100 cable included) with three year warranty is still a hot deal in my book.

BTW, they did mention in the e-mail that I could call the local store that was to deliver the drive and maybe arrange the 32MB SDRAM promo, but I decided my deal was good enough.

As far as I can tell , it's an in-store deal only . They have to use a special coupon code to give you the free memory , and then use the $30.00 off coupon code . On line , you can only use one coupon code per deal so it won't work there ..only at B&M

Can I just give a coupon number at the b&m staples to get the $30 off? ,or do I have to show someone a physical coupon of some sort?

It's not a matter of it working with a P233, it is a question of it working with the BIOS and the mainboard you have. If possible, update your BIOS to the latest available. If the drive doesn't work correctly in your computer, you can try a software overlay fix, or you can buy something like the Promise Ultra 66 PCI controller card.
