Tiger Direct has the Logitech Z640 speakers on sale for $37.99 + shipping. Shipping will make or break this deal for you depending on where you live -- it was $18.37 to ship them to Alexandria, VA, but maybe someone closer to where they ship from can turn this into a deal. Otherwise, I'd say get them from NewEgg, around $49.99 shipped I believe.

Free shipping at Amazon, and $38.94 for the speakers.

Can't go wrong with that!

I'm using a set with an HTPC in a room that isn't set up for the justification of a 5.1 receiver, etc.

Wow, didn't even see the Amazon post -- wouldn't have posted this one... think I'll go for the Amazon deal, myself :)

How's the bass on this speaker?
Oh also, if you sign up and qualify for a amazon platinum visa card you will get a $30 gift certificate. You have to use the card to purchase the product in order for the gc to be used. The link can be found at tec-baaarrrgans under coupon section

The speakers are decent, but the subwoofer that comes with it is incredibly nice. I picked up these speakers from newegg when they were 50 bucks and I wish I waited a little longer!

In all honesty the bass is too good. I have the dial cranked down all the way and it's still pretty loud. Luckily my Audigy 2 lets me adjust that with software too. That being said, these speakers are great, and are AWESOME in Doom 3.

Have any of you heard the Altec Lansing 621 2.1 speaker system? If so, how does it compare to the 621? The 621 had very hard hitting bass and im a bass freak. My 621 died and im looking for a set that has comparable bass. Thanks for the response guys!

the bass is STRONG but not QUALITY. sure it has a lot fo power but if your going for clarity i would reocmmend you something else. Of course the price isnt undispuatiable but the quality dosent seem that well to me. i used to own one until i finally got the creative meagworks.

I personally like spending more $$ and getting the upper end Logitech speakers. Of course, you usually have to spend $100-$200 more for them, but I think it's well worth the extra cost.

These are pretty good, but they do "hiss" a little bit. However, its my first surround sound system, so Im no expert.
