That's actually a decent fixer-upper. The P6200 isn't bad at all, and that eSATA port provides far better external storage performance than USB 2.0.

Not bad.

I kinda like this one. for $20 more You get 1GB more ram however it's an Older cpu / chipset /onboard video / DDR2. It is still usable in todays world thats for sure and smaller screen which is a plus for some.

I just got my son one of the new MSI laptops using the AMD Fusion Processor. Pretty freaken sweet for the money. $380 at OD. They are not at this price anymore.

This one isn't too bad for $50 more either at BB.

The OP's is better. You can get another 2GB for $20, the CPU is at least equivalent or better, not to mention a generation newer, and the graphics are 2x better. It also has eSATA.

And it's a Lenovo, which I would buy before I would a Gateway, but that's just my personal preference.

You didn't mention the second one. Better processor, onboard video. Double the ram, HDMI etc. Only drawback is 14" screen which can be a plus for some.

Bottom line is laptops have come a long way and you can find excellent sub $400 full feature units sporting 64bit win7. It is a win for the consumer and those not needing a small screen/size shouldn't even look at netbooks.

The only thing I really hate about 90% of the laptops out there is the retarded so-called "HD" screens that are that crappy 1366x768 resolution. It's like were back in the year 2000 again

True with that but they use less power and are cheaper to make so low end lappys are gonna get them.

Even the vast majority of midrange laptops get them too, and some higher end ones even. Sigh.
