If only it were 64MB with 5ns chips. (j/k)

If that were a serious post from me I'd seriously have to start worrying about getting too greedy. :D

I got this card. The memory chips on it are 5.5ns, and it'll only overclock to 420mhz(DDR) for me(no modification). It supposedly comes with Leadtek's hardware monitoring software, but it didn't monitor the fan rpm nor the temperatures. That doesn't bother me, but there are true GF2Pro cards out there that can be had for a few bucks more. This is not to dig at your post though. I jumped on this deal when I should've been looking at the memory speed, or look beyond just one vendor for a deal. Stupid me.

I got this card without shopping around too much too. A little disapointed in the memory, but still a good card for the $$$. The hardware monitoring software works fine for me.

For a counter-strike player with win2k, would this be one of the best cards for under 140?
Also, does leadtek release drivers very often?

I have the MSI 64 meg geforce 2 pro card, it's great, i think it can be had for $150 at newegg, mine overclocks to 240/480 without a problem if I want, so its like an ultra pretty much. runs counterstrike great in 1024 X 768 on my amd 1.2ghz.

Maybe, you should check out the following review: MX Review with 3.5ns Memory

My card I got from a show , talked about in previous thread, has 5ns RAM on the 32MB model, not 5.5ns. And the hardware monitoring software all works perfectly for me, even after applying the quadro patch from overclockers.com. This is a great card and probably one of the best deasl out there if teh MSI 64MB is out of stock. Realistically, 32MB vs. 64MB only shows up in very high resolutions or with extremely complex textures. This is a good deal for the penny conscious buyer who doesn't wanna get stuck with a MX.

Ummm guys. 4ns RAM does not equal 4ns DDR RAM. One card is clocked at 250 Mhz, whiel the other is effectively at 500Mhz. There are definitely MX cards out there with 4ns RAM on them . Cardex always puts out special editions of nvidia cards with better ram and cooling.

You can use either leadtek's or reference.. later leadtek drivers are essentially just reference anyway if not nvidia's exactly. The Leadtek utilities work with reference drivers from nvidia.

Wow! My only problem with overclocking is that I am dreadfully afraid of ruining the card, or even the other components in my computer. Is it completely safe to overclock the video card to that level, or would you need to get additional cooling devices (whatever they are :) ) ?

I wouldn't hesitate to overclock that video card, however, there's no harm in sticking with conservative overclocked speeds. You truly won't notice much of a difference if you clock it a little slower than the max you can reliably overclock it to... after playing with my roommate's MSI GF2Pro I would overclock that guy to 230/450 daily if I'm playing games, unless I'm trying to score impressively high on 3D Mark 2001 just to show off or something like that. Then I would push it to its limits... but I don't see the need to keep it overclocked THAT much all the time. The worst that can happen is you'll damage the card, though not likely, but if you keep it at a conservative speed you won't even notice the difference and you'll more than likely eliminate that possibility all together.
Anyway the MSI GF2 Pro is back in stock today at newegg... get it while it's hot (no pun intended) and I can confirm that it's got 5ns RAM, not 5.5ns like they posted at newegg.

I have additional fans on the side of my case i run sometimes, other than that I didn't add a different fan to the geforce 2 pro, I only overclock sometimes, since I play a lot of counterstrike, and the extra speed isn't really needed for that game.

Well, I think I will go for the deal at newegg, so I could get the 5ns. There is only one problem that I have now:

I could either get the card today, or wait for 9 days until I get back home from my trip. By waiting, the price could be lower. However, newegg may be switching to 5.5ns cards by 9 days from now, but it might have been 5ns if I ordered it today.

So, do people think that the prices could drop by 9 days from now?

And, would it be more likely to get a 5ns card if I ordered today, or 9 days from now?

Thanks in advance!

This might be a little off topic, but I'm wondering how much better the MSI 64 MB pro card would be than this. And would I see a very noticeable difference from my TNT2 32mb card? This is mainly for playing counter strike and stuff because this TNT2 card runs horrible in cs. Hopefully this card will fix stuff. One other thing I might be able to do is add some more ram just because its so cheap right now (all i have is 128mb)

LucJoe - FYI - I saw a dramatic increase just going from my TNT2 32MB to my MX DDR 32MB card. It will also depend on your processor speed, but you should see a noticeable difference if your other hardware is up to snuff. As for the 128MB Ram, I'd say get more...another 128 never hurts.
