Was at Costco today and saw they had the HP+Ipod 40gb version for 379. Its only 20 bucks off retail, seems like a good deal to me.

Plus with Costco, you can use it for one year and bring it back for a new one. No questions asked (generally speaking)...

rockman, please do everyone a favor and know what you're talking about before making comments. My original 5gb iPod is still working fine, granted battery life is pretty bad now, but using it for 20-30 hours/week for 2.5 years is pretty impressive.

100% agree with Rugby here. My 5GB iPod is still kicking it with like 5 hours battery life and I've had the sucker for atleast two years.

I suppose it might be a YMMV thing. I thought it was non-lifetime for computer systems only, not parts; maybe it varies by location. Regardless, I don't think an Ipod should be classified as computer parts but electronics, which should have lifetime coverage.

Just checked, the mini is $269 on Costco.com, 40GB Ipod is $399 (non-HP version).

hp does not make the ipod; under the apple logo, there is a hp log underneath it.

I think you can save tax using the $20 off Amazon coupon floating around - $399.99 -$20 = $379.99 with free shipping at Amazon

I saw all those at costco too...

Didn't think it was really all that great. I was going to use mine to listen to BOOKS. If you plan to do the same then you should check out this deal...

Apple iPod 15GB Digital Music Player Featured Product
Special Purchase: Save $50! Was: $299.99, Now: $249.99
Plus, get a $100 Gift Certificate with Audible.com Signup!
15GB hard drive ? compatible with MP3, WAV, AAC, AIFF, and Audible files ? FireWire® interface ? weighs 5.6 oz. (includes built-in rechargeable battery) ? backlit LCD and controls ? earbud headphones

Not bad for 150 bucks, but you gotta join Audible.com for year. But, on the bright side look at all the books you can listen too. Good way to pass the time while driving to work or whatever.

Linker...

This is not the 40Gig, those are 299.99 after rebate. maybe it's worth it to pay 50 bucks more to get a 40 gig? For me I was thinking 4 Gig Mini was good enough. If you think like me then 15 Gig is plenty. I don't have a HUGE music selection.
