ok, to top all that off....atleast at my store, every employee got a few pages of rebates for HP stuff, rebates that only OM employees can use...and in there, there is a $50 rebate for the $99 drive....so if the conditions are right, omx employees can probably get this drive (if they have a raincheck like me or if they already bought it) and get money back!

zeruty, it pays to be an employee. :)

I hadn't heard about the $50 off for employees until today, but since I work there I was allowed to take a raincheck. And hopefully we won't get anymore of the 10x drives in (got a very small shipment today, but I believe that model's discontinued so you never know), so they'd have to substitute the 12x drive. :D

Finally, after two weeks wait, got my drive shipped. I saw this on the order tracking page, but there is no tracking number and I haven't received the email about shipping. Is this the usual way om ship items?

my local OM just called and said I could pick up the Hp 9350 for $99.00. I had my name on a raincheck/call back list :). This thing still worth $99.00 ?

thanks,

Tom

This drive is low quality. There is no burnproof, resulting in buffer underruns even on my tbird 1ghz machine- if i leave it as is its fine, but burnproof is a feature I look for in any cd-writer im buying. I'll stick with mu 8200i (4x). :D

BTW- OM in Duluth, MN has a VERY poor track record as far as customer service n stuff goes. Rude, impaitent, stupid people- never called me about raincheck. AVOID.

I have been using mine in a P3 700 at 933 on an ASUS CUSL2-C MB. I had a lot of trouble with it buring CD to CD -- none if I burned from my Hard Drive to the CD. The most current version of HP's software helps the buffer under run issue. HP support told me to make sure I was not running other programs (like anti-virus, etc). I tried burning 2 CD's over the weekend and by shutting down everything else and hust running the CD-RW. I was able to copy CD to CD without any problem.

This is my first CD-RW drve, so I am still learning what to do, but I have made about 2/3 coasters with it. Lately I seem to have it figured out and have not screwed up any.
