Warm=>HOT! 27" Emerson Tru-Flat TV for $244+tax @ Wal-Mart

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and picked one of these. Quite honestly, I am very impressed with the unit. Picture quality is great and sound is superb. I compared this unit to other higher priced brands, and quite honestly, I couldn't tell the difference, well except the BIG difference in price 😉 I can speak of Emerson's durability and reliability both from personal experience and those of others.

There are front and rear audio/video inputs , component video input, and an S-video input. It's great... I can actually plug in my xbox and DVD player at the same time now 🙂 Also, it comes with a 90 day Wal-Mart guarantee and a 1 year manufacturer's warranty.

$244 for a 27" flat screen is a GREAT value in my honest opinion. If you're in the market for a TV, you might want to look at this unit. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Cheers!

Michael

Good deal, I think you can get the Apex from CC on sale for around $199, seems to go on sale a couple of times a month.

Emerson is a so-so brand, and for the price it seems good, but I saw 2 different flat-screen Toshiba models 27A43 for $260 and 27A33 $250 at Best buy today (27.JULY.2003). To me Toshiba is made with better parts. Just my 2 cents.

Phillydog, I agree. Toshiba and Panasonic have better reputation than Emerson.

Looking at the bb website, I can't see where the Toshibas mentioned above are flat screen. Am I missing something?

Circuit City has an Apex 27" non flat (and no stereo sound) for $179.99

They also have an Apex 27" flat screen for $299.99... I've never seen them go on sale for $200

Neither of those Toshiba TVs are flat screens.

Is this deal better than the Panasonic 27" flat screen posted recently? It was $327 delivered through Amazon plus a $50 gc. I ordered one of those, but if this is a better deal I may cancel the Panasonic. It's not due to ship until next week.

i doubt it

I hooked mine up for the first time on Friday and I have to say I am very impressed IMO the picture looks as good as any non HD-TV wega once all the picture settings are adjusted

the only problem IMO is it doesnt do very well when the picture quality of the channel is poor like PBS but on channels with good quality (Fox, ABC etc) it is perfect IMO

I have a regular DirectTV (no HD) and am very satisfied with it

I kinda regret not buying 2 now 🙁
