This is my first hot deals post, so bear with me.

I was using PowertoysXP from microsoft, and found out that the new XP version has this multiple desktop feature.
First download PowertoysXP from microsoft, or from here.

Second, install it, then right-click on the taskbar, and select Desktop Manager.
You will then see 4 little buttons on the taskbar, those are the 4 different desktops, and you can also have different backgrounds for each desktop.

interesting - but even when im in linux i never seem to use more than one desktop really. What else can this util do?

It also has tools such as Super-Fast User Switcher, Tweak UI, Power Calculator, Image Resizer, and HTML Slide Show Wizard.

And this other one, where you can set your usb camera to take a photo every minute or whatever time you set it to.

i have a litestep shell over my win98se - I have 9 virtual windows, plus geekamp controls.

Can I run litestep on Xp Pro? (picked it up at MS Event)

yeah, i've used litestep on Win2000 before. but it was too slow on my old machine. looks cool tho

Since I interned for em, I guess I can say that it works.
You can also just install it, and then change the properties, so that it can have Win2k compatibility, so it should work regardless. Under Xp, you can run anything from Win95, Win98, and Me.

Hope that helps. 🙂

Bah, microsoft link broken. They always catch our hot deals and spoil em! Gotta be quick around here... 😛

Awesome feature... I had powertoys but didn't know about it.
I recommend: (Can be set by right clicking MSVDM)
Unchecking Use animations (Too slow even on my 1.5ghz machine)
There are lots of other cool features. But you can't title the destkops like on a *NIX OS.

While I was writing this explorer crash on me so it seems MS might not have gotten all the bugs out..

But still a cool feature and a good post.

i've found multidesk (linky) to be faster, more reliable, and it takes up a little less real estate in the taskbar. those who want virtual desktops should give it a look/try.

oh, the download on their site is old, the new one can be found by searching download.com for "multidesk", should be the only hit returned.
