i ordered an 888 or 8 cubed for $70 shipped and taxed

it takes the same carts as my 880, and I couldnt find anything better at such short notice... I almost had to pay retail!!!!

edit:

888/880/880i no one else seems to have them in stock, and they are widely regarded as the last good epson printers that take the cheap cartridges.

free shipping, and cable, shipped same day.

Which reminds me, I still need to take my printer back to Walmart now that the semester is over.

i have been looking for a deal on the epson 880 for awhile(since i missed out on the outpost deal), but it seems to have disappeared from all the stores, including the epson site. As for the differences between the 880 and the 888, the 888 has a lower maximum resolution(1440x720 vs 2880x720), and has a different appearance(its uglier). those are the differences that i know of, i only know about these printers from what i could research on online.

The 880 prints great pics at actual size, with Megatoner's ink, not digitally enlarged, or fit to media. Staples brand is good paper, "Premium Glossy Photo Paper", $9.99 for 30 8.5"x11" 95 bright. Regular inkjet is crap and "Epson Photo Quality Inkjet Letter Paper", 100 for $9.99 letter size is good for proofing. Get alot of 6"x4", for actual size. How long it lasts is anyone's gamble.

hmmm, sorry about my earlier post, i read a review on cnet that listed the max resolution as 1444x720 several times and never noticed that the epson page listed it at 2880x720. so anyways, thanks for the deal, i think i may order one now that i have been straightened out.

Dang, another offer that only ships to US addresses. I've been looking for a good deal on an Epson 888, but I've found nothing in Canada.

<< The 880 prints great pics at actual size, with Megatoner's ink, not digitally enlarged, or fit to media >>

the reason your enlarged photos don't look as good "as actual size" has nothing to do with the printer or the ink you use. It has everything to do with resolution of the camera you use. I have found that 2 megapixel cameras, while supposedly good for 8X10 prints, actually don't enlarge to this size very well. I think you need a 3 MP camera to start getting true photo quality at this size and above. All this being said, my Canon 2.1 MP camera still looks pretty darn good when I enlarge to 8X10 and print on my Epson 880.

Gotta love the listings of the products that have the same "Regular Price" and "Our Price". Now, that's a deal!

SimMike2:
Nice addendum-I hope I didn't leave the wrong impression, just trying to be short and sweet. :)

DDV, what's missing? The 888 is listed as the 8^3 (which took me a while to figure out), but everything seems to be there.

Here's an idea, would someone take delivery of a 888 and forward it to me if I paid the shipping plus a little?

Regards,
Craig

Wow

Did not know you could still buy a new scsi 636 scanner.

For scanning prints (300 to 600 DPI) how does the speed of this SCSI scanner compare with the newer 1250/1650 USB scanners?
