I would still go with one of the following three. Although much more expensive ($175 - $200), they are bound to drop in price in the next couple of months. I am also sitting on the fence to build my new rig :D!

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum-SLI
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR

No need to go with those 3 of you aren't doing SLI.

I beg to differ. These have other features that are unrelated to SLI but only available are in the SLI model. The manufacture So, even if you don't plan to do SLI, the motherboards are still worth it. In addition, if you do change you mind & wanted to do SLI, you have the option.

No doubt that an SLI board makes you more "future proof", but are the other extra features worth an extra $75-100?

EPox has the best support ever. They RMA'd my board when it died almost a year after I bought it and sent me a new one. I didnt even have the reciept.

agreed about Epox, they rock, and a BIOS supporting X2's is already available

and what features are you talking about with the SLI boards? SATA 2 and some firewall thing? Those are worth next to nothing. I have yet to see a SATA drive that gets any benefit from the SATA 2 interface, and NCQ looks like a total joke for desktop use.

depends, sometimes manufacturers put an extra sata2 controller or an extra gigabit controller. but not so many find those important
