I checked the previous posts on TEAC and I didn't find this so here goes. CompUsa has a TEAC 8X/8X/32 CD-RW for 119.99 with a 40 mail-in rebate for a total of 79.99 plus the tax on the 120 if your state has sales tax. SKU# is 280177. It's good only Sunday and Monday. I would probably buy this but I have the 8X/4X/32X Plextor. Don't know if TEAC's are good drives. Any input out there????

Arrrgh! I bought one about two weeks ago from Compusa when they had them for $99 and I thought that was a good deal.

No it's not burnproof. Here's a link to the drive and it's specs.
Link
As far as Clone CD, their specs says it supports the W54E with TEAC's newest firmware and this model is the W58E so you can hazard a guess
that it probably will with the newest firmware.
CloneCD support
This model W58E doesn't have the newest firmware listed on the support page so it might already have it.
TEAC firmware update
Sorry, just read that the firmware update is only for the W54E, which is 4X/4X/32X and only if that drive has firmware 1.0A which gets updated to 1.0X. So I am not sure if Clone Cd is supported.

Got one of these at Christmas. I haven't had any problems with it at all. Burns great at 8x.
