I found this phone on sale for $279. This seems decent, since they sell for the same price on ebay. This is supposed to be better than the previous 5000 series in battery life. Does anybody recommend this phone for that price? Let me know...thanks.

$299 is retail. So its not that hot a price. Especially since bestbuy and circuit city give you $50 BB rebate and sprint offers another $50-$100 for new activations.

As for the phone. The GF has it. Its pretty nice. Its colored and if you buy the data cable ($60) you can transfer pics and ringers from the computer to use for customized ringtones and stuff. The 5000 is the same phone but it came with the sync cable free and had a slimmer battery that didnt last very long.

<< Sorry I'm new...is the general rule to include the "deal" price in the title? >>

its always nice to have things like the product, store and price.

Also, use "edit" to edit your original posts instead of making new ones if youre only adding things like links or info.

Ahhh, thanks for the info. The problem with those deals through b&m stores like best buy etc is that it's only valid for new members since they require activation for the rebates. Also, the 5150 is supposed to have better support for Sprint's next-generation networks in comparison to the 5000. I heard that these phones however, don't have vibrate as an option when getting calls....is that true? If so, that sucks!

I wish sprint offered some better deals on phones for customers that are already signed on.

Also, I called Sprint and complained....I got a much better deal than I had. I ended up getting 650 anytime minutes, 2000 off-peak (starting at 8:00 pm), 3 months internet access, and a voucher for $30 towards my bill or the purchase of another phone...all this for a monthly bill of $35.99.....not bad!

That phone makes a cool sound when you open and close it.

FYI, this phone will take advantage of 3G for voice service, but you will not be able to take advantage of the high speed data connections, unfortunately :( For now, it may be worth it to wait a few months till the real 3G phones come out.

Yup, it reminds me of the "click" that Mercedes-Benz doors make when they close. Very satisfying sound indeed.
