Sixth Avenue has a Panasonic CT-32G14 TV advertised for $399. Picked one up yesterday, its a 32" TV, with S-video. Great for watching DVDs. Pretty good price, the retail is $699.99 and the cheapest online place I could find it was Best Buy's for $599. I was going to buy a 27" TV for around the same price. (This TV has no bells or whistles though, just a basic TV with S-video and A/V inputs).

Link to: http://www.prodcat.panasonic.com/shop/product.asp?sku=CT-32G14&CategoryID=312 for more details on the TV.

By the way, this deal is only valid at a Brick and Mortar store, Sixth Avenue. So there is no link provided for online purchases. Sorry. (I believe Sixth Avenue may only be located in New York, and New Jersey, but I am not positive).

The price is good until the end of the week, so I guess until next Saturday? ... The circular says the price is valid until 9/9/2000, so that'd be next Saturday :) (Just went to look for the circular)

Of course, image quality between a Wega and this TV is not comparable. :) This TV does not have a completely flat tube, but it is very acceptable. Its not like some of the RCA TVs where you actually see it bow considerably. When looking at it relatively straight-on, you cannot tell that the picture isn't flat. If you're looking at it at a very sharp angle, like I'm looking at it right now, then the picture would be distorted. This TV only has 500 scanlines of resolution as well, which is sufficient for a DVD movie (DVDs usually have around 500 scanlines of resolution), but newer TVs usually have more scanlines for future support of HDTV which will have as many as 1080 scanlines (in the 1080i format). Also, this TV only has a 2-line digital comb, where as more expensive TVs like the Wega series use a 3D digital comb filter. The better the digital comb, the better the picture will look (I think the order goes nothing, 2-line, 2-line digital, 3-line digital, 2D adaptive, 3D digital comb). Anyways, of course the Wega will be a much better TV. In my case, I was just looking for a TV to replace my 10 year old 19" Sharp TV, which has no A/V or S-video inputs (it only has a coaxial input), so this was perfect. If you want more information on what all the technical terms mean, BestBuy.com has a FAQ about TVs, and Crutchfield.com does as well... Good luck to anyone jumping in on this deal!
