$285 gets you a retail box ABIT KT7133A-RAID motherboard, a retail box AMD 750 TBird CPU and an upgraded HSF (Tai-Sol CEK733092).
This is a very nice combination for the price if you want the retail box versions. Here's the link http://www.monarchcomputer.com/

If you look on pricewatch you can buy the Abit Kt7-raid for $150 or less. And the T-Bird 750 for $75. That means your Tiasol Costs $60 lol, just kidding.

I know you can get the OEM 750 cheaper. This price is for someone looking for a retail box cpu.

Don't buy from Monarch!!!!!!!

My dad decided to upgrade and bought one of their packages.
Those "boner biting bastards" (his words):
1) sent him a non-functional AZ11E motherboard
2) sent him an FIC AZ11 when he returned the broken motherboard
3) lied about when they received his non-functional motherboard (they sat on it for 4 business days)
4) made him pay shipping to return the broken motherboard _and_ the wrong motherboard

Don't do it!

Looks like a decent combo deal to me. This mobo cannot be found much cheaper than he found guys..... this is a KT7A-RAID.... which I havn't seen for less than 150 anywhere. Descent find. I'd rather get an oem processor and board.

Linkified. Don't know why they have right-clicking disabled on the page ... that seems shady to me. Still, not a bad price for the combo ... just don't know if I want to risk it.

Gotta tell you guys, the 1ghz Tbird and KT7A is the way to go!!!!!!!!!!1

Just returned a 750 Tbird that maxed out at 900 mhz on the KT7A.

Got a 1 ghz Tbird, and it is loping along at 1.38 ghz !!!!!!!!!!!! (9.5 x 145/35) on cheap PC133 ram. SI mem rating 580/640. Max temps under SI burn-in test 113 degrees F cpu, and chassis temp is at ambient in antec sx830, with Vantec 6540d (?) fan.

Anand Tech and others were right...the 1ghz Tbirds are dresden copper, and are "born to be wild".

Just thought I'd mention my experience buying this combo deal from Monarch was good. Received my order in less than a week and the hardware worked fine. Sorry to hear other's experience was not good.

I just got my msi k7t pro2a/850 tbird mobo combo yesterday, exactly i week after ordering it from monarch for 266.15 delivered. I ordered a case from allstarshop and it came in one week also(both yesterday). I have never set up and hooked up a system, but I put it together last night along with my quantum fireball as 30 gb hd (Staples $107.xx) and it rocks. The mobo combo arived completly assembled and all I had to do was install it in the case and plug it up and it worked. I am completly satisfied. After I enabled the dma mode, the system is FAST!!

I would not hesitate to buy from Monarch again!!

I do need a better video card, I only have a 4 mb pci right now, any good deals on a 16 or 32mg AGP with tv in/out??

Moonkat: where did you buy your 750 from that you could return it?

That's the whole problem we all face here...if we would try a CPU in our own systems to see what it could do, and return it if it wasn't up to snuff, it would take the risk out.

Monarch's performance is getting such mixed reviews...you're making me nervous! I just ordered a mobo/cpu combo from them last night - Asus A7V133a, Tbird 850 and Taisol HSF for $323 shipped. I hope it shows up and works! ::fingers crossed::

I ordered the combo from BCI computers. Link to BCI
Their ASSEMBLED Tbird 800 system is $319, including Acer A-Open case & 64 MB of Ram. They charge $45 to upgrade to the ASUS A7V-133. Total would be $364. I believe I asked about the ABIT KT7133A-RAID & that they do not carry the ABIT.

If, like me, you'd just as soon have someone else do all the dirty work, this is a great alternative.

acedaddy - you'll have to be more specific. Are you looking for AMD or Intel? Any preferences on brand of motherboard? What speed processor are you hoping to get?

Atacom.com has the Abit KT7A Raid for 155.95 and the retail boxed 750 socketA t-Bird for 104.95 for a total of 260.90. Not to crap on the deal but it is almost 25.00 cheaper.

sorry for the late post. my Abit KT7-100 RAID (not the newer 133A) TBird 1GHz (OEM CPU) combo was $299 at a local Fry's Electronics a few weeks ago.

the reason my deal was $265 (plus tax) was because I had to return a Voodoo3000 card to them without a receipt. I paid $65 but their system had $99 as last price, so... I paid for my $299 combo with $200 and a $99 credit (which I paid $65 for). still, even the $299 was a good price for the combo since the separate parts would have been $152 for the mobo and $199 for bare CPU at the time. I'm pretty happy with it.

Cherub,
I bought a Mobo combo from Mwave: Epox 8kta3 & Tbird 750.
The mobo would not make the jump to warp speed (the 100 to 133mhz jumper setting). I contacted Epox, and their tech support said "No AMD chip supports 133 mhz".....
When I emailed them that many web sites had successfully done this in their reviews, they said I should flash an updated bios. However, their web site states that they accept no liability for damages for this!!!! I did have the original Dec 21 00 bios.

So I decided that I could return and get a board with an updated bios, and look forward to the wonderful (not) tech suppport from Epox, or look elsewhere. Since I really wanted the Kt7a board but was too impatient to wait for their release/price reductions, I went back to Abit.

There is no comparison for the overclocker. Abit Softmenu/jumperless is the way to go.

Mwave was very professional about the return (30 days), quick to respond with an RMA approval (required). Also, they paid for shipping the Abit replacement board, and I paid for returning the EPOX.
