Delta sucks big time. I wouldn't fly with them again for free! Their flights were not on time, they were grossly overbooked and their staff was very rude and hostile, and was not willing to even hear about our problems. Basically, for no fault of ours (except that we went for a cheap ticket deal), we got treated like sh*t. They just don't have their act together. For example, at this one airport, they had us stand in two lines before boarding - one to check in the bags and another to get boarding passes! How insane is that!! Friends of mine that have flown Delta in the past have many horror stories to tell. After hearing those stories, we feel that we got off easy. Check out Delta Sucks for many, many stories.

Almost all airlines suck today, it's the price you pay for flying. I have an uncle that has been flying for United for a long time, he gets to hear the family vent all the time. I feel sorry for him for that and don't usually say anything. We had an extremely rude flight attendent on our last trip to Denver. I didn't say anything to him, but my dad did. Apparantly United has done some study on that fact because it is a big issue, there is a point in a flight attendents career when they realize that their job isn't as glamorous as they were led to believe, so they become bitter. But as they get older, it goes away. I think he called it "The Golden Handcuff" syndrome.

That Delta ebonics ad is freakin hilarious.

i have to chime in and say i think its the way all airlines are. i flew delta roundtrip to narita japan in may(my first and only plane trip so far), executive class over and third class back. have you seen the seinfeld episode with elaine and jerry? that was me yo. on the way over, the stewardess is begging me to eat or drink something and i'm sitting next to NWO Scott Norton(who btw, got me thru customs without a hitch and offered me free tickets to the wrestling matches--thanx dude). otoh on the way back, a stewardess threw some peanuts down in front of me for a snack. later they gave me a travel kit for being so nice--shoot, i was just glad to be able to get on the plane! but i paid $340, so i ain't complaining.

I've been flying delta quite a bit and hardly ever had any trouble. I work for them (Tech side) so I don't even pay for tickets... but only get on when there is seats available.
However the crew does not really know that I am an employee, except they look it up on purpose.
I found that most personal is curdious and makes an effort. You always have the exeption and it only takes one rotten apple to spoil the basket.
I encourage you to mail deltas customer service department every time you have a bad expiriance. Best is you write down names too so the problem can be addressed. You should find that not all delta people are bad people! ;)

Isn't true that Delta's coach seats are have a lot more leg room than other airlines.
They advertised a while back that they were removing "chairs" from their planes so people would have more room.
Is that true...I've never flown Delta before.
BTW, NEVER EVER FLY United...the worst, WORST airline.

Delta treated us well with our family trip to Alaska.
All flights were on time and they had 5 or more
people at the gate getting us on the plane and handling
the checkin process on every leg of the flight.
We had a family death in the middle of or vacation
and they got us on the next flight out of Alaska
to our new destination with no hassle and a resonable
price.

ATA was horrible. Their flights to Vegas were %100
overbooked, they only had 2 people working the gates
and despite arriving 1 1/2 hours ahead of time and
having confirmed tickets purchased a month in advance,
we were on standby due to the overbooking. The
return flight was just as bad, same results and we
were 2 1/2 hours early that time.

Vanguard is the absolute worst. 1 person working the
gate for 3 flights going out and 2 coming in. The
lack of gate help caused big delays. My wife and kid
sat on the incoming runway for over an hour because
the one gate person could not get the current flight
loaded, answer all calls, get baggage loaded and assist
the flight crew all by herself. Letters to the Vanguard
president, who has since been fired, were ignored.
I don't care about the cheap price when it takes longer
to fly than to drive.

vanguard and ATA are not "major" airlines (united delta american northwest contintental twa etc) so the level of service woudl naturally differ...

surprisingly , southwest offers good prices AND good servvice nearly all the time, and always ranks in the top 3 in customer satisfaction,,thats why they became the largest "discount" airline

I fly Delta exclusively. Sure, the flights are late, but everyone's are leaving Hartsfield Intl (Atlanta). USAir was no better or worse when I used to fly them. Everyone has always been polite to me, no bad experiences. No lost luggage either!

I only fly direct to/from Atlanta if that makes any difference. I wish I had seen this thread a few days ago. It's about time to make Thanksgiving plans.

I've never had a problem with Delta, only airline I've ever flown on. Though that's probably because most of the airports I've been at were Delta hubs. If Delta's coach seats are big, then I NEVER want to fly another airline, my legs hurt after a long flight from being jammed in there. The exit seats are the best (on most planes), tons of leg room.

I think Delta gets some take-off priority at Hartsfield (ATL), since Delta pretty much owns that airport it seems.

I've only ever had one flight land late, but most I've been on have left at least 20 minutes late, and still landed on time.
