Best Buy is doing a 10% off clearance items, which includes the VPR brand desktops. Plus, there is a $150 MIR on the VPR.

Bottom end machine, $850-10%-$150 = $615, plus generic 1 year no interest with BB credit card.

2.4 Ghz, 512 DDR SDRAM, 60 MB 7200, 64 MB GeForce2 (box says 32, but comes with 64).

Nothing special, but its in a full-tower case and can actually be upgraded pretty easily. I bought one of these for my wife, and she hasn't had any problems with it at all. Added an extra HD and another network card with no probs (plus wasn't crammed into a mini-case!)

These systems aren't that bad at all. They have a good board (D845PEBT2, OEM version with firewire and IDE raid) and a quite cool case/PSU. For the cash it's a darn good deal IMHO. At some stores you might still be able to get display models too, which can be priced really low if you haggle with the managers - but of course YMMV. :p

Thanks for the tip on this! I found one last night at Best Buy "Open Box Complete," so it had everything with it. So it was $849.99 - 10% (Open Box) - 10% (Additional off Open Box) - $150 Rebate.

The weird thing is I just did the math and I actually saved money because 10% off of $849.99 is $764.99 but the guy put $746.99 before taking off the additional 10%. Hey, every little bit helps! :) So my "out the door" total with tax is $577.75. Not bad at all. ;)

I noticed that mine only came with a 32 Meg GForce 200 Card Though. It's funny because it has the PNY Logo by the Video Plug. *Shrug*

I was surprised though that it came with one 512 meg DDR chip, not two 256's like it is mentioned on their website. :)

Anyway, thanks again for letting me know to go out and hunt this good deal (it took me going to 4 BB's to finally find one!).

The additional 10% off for clearance items & open box items ends today: Sunday 1/5/2003. Their signs in the store state this. For those of you on the West coast, you still have a few hours to run out and look for some "bonus" deals based on the extra 10% savings.

Now, only if we had those 10% off coupons that Best Buy periodically sends out to sweeten this deal a bit further. Darn. ;)

I talked my dad into buying the 2.53 Ghz model...

check this out...

P4 2.53
512MB DDR
Intel 845PE mobo
- onboard RAID, Firewire, USB 2.0, Intel LAN
GF2 MX200
100 GB 7200 RPM HDD
16X DVD
40X Burner
56k modem (Still useful for him, since he uses the machine for fax services)

... all in a really sweet little case :D

$910 - $150 rebate = $760... but the best part is 0% interest until January 2004.
