I just purchased a AsRock 939Dual with a AMD X2 3800+ for $390 + shipping!

Cheaper than newegg which currently has the AsRock for 69.99 + 1.99 shipping and the processor for $347 + free shipping. Which brought the total to around $419 shipped.

If you converted your old Mwave account to the new site you have a $10 coupon that you can use. (Which I did of course.) This brought my total down to $388.13 shipped ($398.13 before coupon of course).

Mwave

Just change the processor on this page.

According to their web page, this is also the Retail Toledo core X2 3800+.

Edit:
(Changed Title to reflect other possible processor/motherboard combinations)

NewEgg dropped their price on the X2 to $335 shipped, but increased the shipping on the motherboard. Soooo... 335 + 73.98 = $408.98 (still more expensive).

Gosh Darnit.

I just paid for these seperately. However, the 3800+ X2 I got was a guaranteed Toledo core, so I suppose it was worth it. 2.0 OCed to 2.4 is nice :)

Thats nice and all but does support AGP? Thats the ASRock board's biggest draw IMO.

I have both, the 3800 and the Asrock Dual agp/pciex and love the performance.

the agp slot allowed me to upgrade to s939 and wait until I had the money for a 7800gt.

This is the deal I have been waiting for, But apparently the asrock board is crap when it comes to OCing :(

has anyone had any success Ocing one to a nice speed? I'll probably wait until next year anyways to get a dual core. Prices should be lower and better mobos available.

my 3800 is doing 2.45 on air and the ram is up to 433. Thats some good overclocking, Asrock released the 1.20 bios update and it added more OC options.

Yea, my Toledo core 3800+ X2 is running at 2.4 (originally 2.0) but I haven't tried to push it any further.

Also, a quick question for anyone, I haven't tried to OC the RAM at all because I just have 2 512 DDR3200 Dimms from about 2 years ago. I figured they probably aren't that great and haven't done much research. Do people see a big performance increase with OCed RAM?

Thanks,

CK

Seems ok to me - I'm benching this board and processor at 2.7 right now.

I haven't done any mods.

I don't know about this deal - I got my motherboard/retail CPU at eWiz several weeks ago.

I wonder if the upcoming price cuts will affect this deal....if so, this may possibly be the hottest deal....ever?

Anandtech has a good review of this board. Look there if your wondering about it. One thing I remember from the review though is about the placement of various plug-ins on the board. They talked about problems that could arise trying to connect your floppy or ide cables. Other than that it looks like a solid board though.

Most boards have a poor floppy location, so why hold that against it ??? In the grand scheme of things, you are getting an AGP and PCIe board which benches right with an NF4, so griping about floppy port locations is really being picky. This board also offers support for the AMD M2 cpu via an add on riser card, so you can't beat the upgradeability.

Asrock and x2 3800+ toledo o/c to 2600=260x10 at .05v increase. With easy volt mod on Asrock 2700=270x10 at 1.5v. Both speeds at double prime95 stable.

Did you read the anandtech review? They said "The ASRock is another good overclocker, demonstrating again that a cheap ULi board with somewhat limited options can still be a superb overclocker. We were very curious to see if the retail boards could reach the same overclocks that we saw with the ULi Reference boards. For the ASRock, the answer is a resounding ?yes?."

Hey guys...I'm new to the whole AMD world, but this looked interesting and had a few questions:

1. Don't really need the 3800+ X2, would an older Venice chip be a good bargain? Do they OC well?
2. What type of PS should I get for this? I saw a deal for an Antec 430W. Would that pair well?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, they OC pretty well from what I've read. For the PSU, it also depends what other components you are going to have in your rig, but yeah that PSU you mentioned SHOULD be plenty.

I picked up this but instead of the 3800X2 I combo'd it with a AMD64 3200. I had a $10 coupon from their site change so it came to $208 shipped. Awesome deal.
