Nice! I have 2 of these drives RAIDed, and they're pretty nice, especially at that price.

*Don't forget to throw in a coupon!

I have three of these one in each of my comps and it is a great unit! It is fast, and quiet! I paid $85.00 from newegg and that was a fat price this is a price that cannot be passed up on, If you need a drive this is the one you need get it now!

New here.
same question: Is it B&M?

BTW, can anyone give / email me a printable $20 off $100 coupon (or the email which Staples sent to you ) so that I can buy the hard drive in a local store? I have a coupon code, but the salesman didn't accept it :(. I really want to buy one this week. Tomorrow(2/15/02) is the last day for the coupon?

Thx.cc1686@yahoo.com:confused:

Bump for the answer to....Is this price before coupon? My local B&M had them 3 or 4 days ago for $120. I got them to PM the online staples and coupon it for this $80 price.

You mean the d740x model ?

Which model is it?
6L040J2 -- Standard ; or
6L040L2 -- w/ Fluid Dynamic Bearing Motors

If this is the "L" version, I'll rush in to Staples today. Someone pls clarify...

Any more details. I just bought this last night at 6pm for $100 - $20 coupon. Said it was regularly $120 or $130, can't remember. Figures they would drop the price two hours later. Any more info so I can Price match this. Thanks.

i've tried calling several local staples (bay area, ca). none of them have it at $80; furthermore, the staples web site only lists a 40 gb maxtor that's ata 66 for $119. looks like this was a bogus deal :(

My bet is that it was the 40 gig 5400 rpm Quantum/Maxtor drive that I purchased from staples a while back for $80 after discount and coupon. At the time it was a decent deal and it has been an okay drive, although not as fast as a 7200 rpm. It did offer ATA 100, if your mobo supports or you have a controller card. Actually in checking their website, they do have the 30 gig 7200 rpm retail drive for $99.98, so add some rubber bands and throw in a $20 off $100 coupon and you have the faster 30 gig drive for $80 with free shipping and no rebate hassle. Not too bad, for a boxed retail drive.
