My bet is that it was the 40 gig 5400 rpm Quantum/Maxtor drive that I purchased from staples a while back for $80 after discount and coupon. At the time it was a decent deal and it has been an okay drive, although not as fast as a 7200 rpm. It did offer ATA 100, if your mobo supports or you have a controller card. Actually in checking their website, they do have the 30 gig 7200 rpm retail drive for $99.98, so add some rubber bands and throw in a $20 off $100 coupon and you have the faster 30 gig drive for $80 with free shipping and no rebate hassle. Not too bad, for a boxed retail drive.
