Warm deal for guitarists--GibsonSG for $549

www.marsmusic.com has some Gibson SG Speacial guitars for $549 (normally $799). you can only get the Ferrari Red, or Plum finish though...but still...it's a pretty good deal to get a Gibson for the price of an Epiphone

Nope. This is a CHILLY deal at best. If $799 is the list price, the standard 30% markdown to starting haggling at would be $559, only $10 more. If you can wheel and deal, there's no reason you'd have to spend more than $500 for this axe. Whenever guitar shopping, remember that the first 30% of discount is automatic. They aren't doing you any favors.

UPDATE:

Visited the link and see that the list is $1,229(!), so I guess this would be a decent deal. (More than I'd pay!)

799 is not the list price.
NOBODY sells for list price, so i never even look at the list price.
