these speakers are pretty tight....extremely good subwoofer for some heavy bass...of course it can't beat the Klipsch's...but these are better (IMHO) than the FPS 2000's which I have....

^bump😀

Just did the deal. Talked to the first Rep and she did not do the deal because the Product # did not match (Staples - Altec ADA880W, CompGeeks - Altec ADA880). So I hung up and called again. Talked to the second and he did not even question it. I even asked if he would pricematch to $150 so I didn't have to buy anything else to use the $40 off $150 coupon. Total came to $115 shipped.

Great Deal, Great Speakers

Um, any recomendations between the ada880w and ada880r ?

The 880r just got delivered to me and I want to know what I am missing.

Listen up folks, there was a similiar thread a few weeks ago about these
ADA880 speakers. Consensus was that you should not waste your money on them. Marginal at best with extremely high return rate due to problems with the sub woofer.

I'm on my 3rd pair now and the technician at Altec told me he wished they never marketed them (sub-contracted manufacturer) due to the 50+ % defect rate. Now that sure tells you something!

The remote is nice but the satelite speakers don't get much power and the sub woofer leaves a lot to be desired.

GarciaFan,

Thanks for the input. Did not know about the other thread. Guess the cat is out of the bag though because I already have these set up and they are kicking. Then again, I have never listened to the Klipsch's or Midlands listed in other thread so I do not know what I am missing. What I do know is that for $95.00 these things kick ass. (just hope I don't have to return too many of them to get a good working set.)
