Not really hot, but, not bad considering the way memory prices are on the rise. I'm hoping this is a
grade of memory that will work in an AMD Duron setup. Crap this if I'm wrong, I can take it :) The
deal is at outpost.com Here is The Link, not bad,
in my opinion, considering shipping prices fair, too.

If you can get 256mb of PC 133 memory for 20.00, after rebate,( It's January 18th, coupon expired)
that would be a deal, but, that deal is history. And, like I said, crap on me if you prove me wrong :)

Actually, I didn't even know that deal ( OD ) expired, till I did a search like you said. lol. Anyway, I tried to buy a stick of that Pny 256mb, added an extra item to meet coupon requirements, and, still got a basket that wouldn't recognize the coupon. I guess I could have called them, but, I got too aggravated with it. Anyway, I'm not saying this a "hot deal", it's not. But, it's warm, I think, for someone just wanting some memory to run in a Duron system. At least I hope it will work it that. It is a noname, generic memory, so, I guess it's a bit of a gamble.

I want to believe...............,( I want to buy the PNY 256 sdram from OD, thanks for the advice on cleaning my cookies, ( haven't done that in a while), but, now, I'm running into a problem where OD will not let me add 1 item of 228547, ( the memory) to my basket. Go figure. I'm not meant to deal with OD, I've had problems before, I guess they have me pegged, heh heh. Anyway, I really like this forum, found many a good deal from your people. Keep it up. :) And, I will be more careful in the future, when posting "Hot Deals".

If you don't already have enough reason to avoid the Outpost memory, check their disclaimer at the bottom:

"OEM DIMMS are manufactured using 3rd tier SOJ parts. The SOJ parts are typically not marked with the original manufacturers' brand or insignia because they may not meet the original manufacturers published specifications. Referred to as minimum specification parts, they operate normally in most systems. OEM DIMMS may use mixed brand and/or mixed speed SOJ on the same board. The use of 3rd tier and mixed parts significantly reduces the manufacturing costs. Most retailers offer these parts exclusively, and do not distinguish between different types of memory. "

That sounds pretty bad.

The deal should be good through tomorrow. If you are having trouble it may be because the item is only avaliable for delivery as a choice on the web, so you may want to make sure you are not choosing the Pick Up in Store Option. One thing on this, Mine was suppose to deliver today, but when I check the order it says "Pickup Only". Which is funny because I can't place it in my check out box if I choose that option, so I called this morning and the item is now waiting for me to pick it up at the store down the stree :) . So now they are delivering a box of envelopes to my house, which i needed anyways, and I have to go and pick up the memory. At any rate below is the link for the rebate if anyone needs it.

Yeah, I must have been "brain dead" for a day there, when I saw the $19.95 128mb memory add. It does pay to buy quality memory, a gamble to buy the generic stuff. I just read the "fine print" at Outpost.com on the memory, looks like they are covering their behind, and, for what reason? Because they know buyers are gonna be really unhappy when they buy this stuff.( my opinion )Anyway, the moral of the lesson: price counts, but, only for good quality items.

I have some generic memory that works fine... this stuff seems a step below generic, like "floor-sweepings". When the manufacturer wants their name removed, that's a bad sign. When they put mixed brands and speeds on the same board, that's a VERY bad sign. Best case for these might be if the chips were originally spec'd to be PC133, but can run stable at PC100 CL3.
