This place called Decibel Chicago seems to have pretty good prices on Creek amps. Has anyone dealt with them before? They're selling the OBH-11 for $169.15 which I think is a pretty good price.

I'm looking for a good headphone amp to use with my Audigy 2 Platinum.

They also have the new Creek OBH-21SE which is replacing the discontinued OBH-11SE. The front panel is gold in color and looks kinda cool. It sells for $384.99:

I'm also looking for headphones to go with this amp. I'm considering the Sennheiser 580, 590 or 600. Any comment on which headphone will sound the best with a Creek amp?

I'd appreciate any input. Thanks in advance!

Great Post Doc. I posted on this once before from another company and a similar price but no one was interested. I did buy this amp and I must say that it is fantastic for the price. If you love music and have good to great quality headphones, you will love this amp. I am no audiophile by any means but after I bought this amp I sure did feel alot closer to being one without breaking the bank. Buy it people you will like it. ;) Oh by the way, I have the DENON-AH950 Cans and I love them. The bass is great and they play loud as hell with no distortion with this amp after a 24 hour break in period. I listen to alot of progressive metal like Dream theater, Platypus and such on very loud. Enjoy!!

Thanks Batch! Where did you get your OBH-11?

Another headphone amp that seems pretty popular is the MG Head which has those cool vacuum tubes. Any comment which would be better for hooking up to a sound card?

Supposedly the 580's and 600's are great. You should give them a listen. I have the 570's which I really like, but I haven't heard any of the higher models. Based on reviews however, the 580's are totally different, and much better than mine b/c they use the same drivers as the 600's. I would definitely try those out, especially if you are going to be investing in a a good headphone amp.

MD.

Need advice? Then go to www.audioasylum.com and click on "general asylum" do a seach first though, because I'm sure "headphones that sound good with the OBH-11" has been discussed several times before, if not - feel free to post. Some guy there says that www.headwize.com has information on such matters also.

I have the 580s and I like them. I'm no audiophile though. They're very comforatable. I think I paid ~$130 from newegg. Currently they're $150 shipped:

The 600s are *only* $350. I've heard that there's not a lot of difference between the two (except for the price).

seems kind of steep, but I guess I'd build one from scratch before I'd buy one.

I ordered a pair of Grado SR-125s from Decibel this past fall and their service was excellent. The headphones arrived promptly and were very well packaged. I'd definitely recommend them.
