Warm? Conext UPS 700VA $79.99 after $30 rebate

I know this costs more than other UPS's people have posted but it is 700VA and has 3 battery back up outlets, 3 surge protector outlets, and modem surge protector. In addition, there are 2 outlets on the back (1 battery, 1 surge) that are on short cords so you can plug in transformer plugs for routers, switches, speakers etc., w/o giving up an adjacent outlet.

Running a Pentium III and a 21" monitor the batteries are supposed to last for 16 minutes. That should be plenty of time to shutdown cleanly. Might be nice to have a larger UPS for you Athlon guys! 🙂
(that's a smile of envy, still running a couple of celeron systems)

It's at CompUSA.

Seems like a pretty good deal. Thoughts?

Let me know.

Thanks,
Pigseye

Hi DarthMaul,
I saw at best buy they want $129 for an APC 500VA unit so $79 after rebate sounds like a good deal.

But are Conext UPSs any good?

Yes, that's what we need to know.

Thanks,
Pigseye

I picked up a 900VA conext from office depot last week for 89.99 after MIR. it's a $40 MIR... I thought people would see it since it was in the ad, i guess i should have said something but i didnt think this was a hot deal.

Hi Ringzero,
900VA for $89 is a better deal. Bummer I missed the OD add last week.

I still don't think $79 for 700VA is cold.

Hows your UPS workin? any glitches or recommendations?

Thanks,
Pigseye

All that I know is that I had a credit at compusa to use, so I got it, 🙂, so I guess can't complain about a 900va somewhere else for $10 more last week, although dang would have been nice! There is APC software in the box, so I guess APC owns them someway some how, I sort of remember something like that... /me shrugs

FYI GetReal posted the following in a previous thread about Conext: "For those of you who don't know conext was APC's attempt to sell rebranded APC products at a checper price to the home user audience. APC has now closed the conext division and closed the http://www.conextproducts.com/ website ".

Ya I just looked over all the product shots, seems like this 700va is the APC pro 650. Both look the same, have same back panel, have same LED layout and power switch in front, both are rated at 410watts. Only difference is the 650 vs 700, oh and the conext is black vs biege for the APC. Again, /me shrugs and /me says its a good enuff deal.

I've had my 700AVR for about 6 months, and it's great. The only downside is it's very, very, very hard to find any type of support/software support for it. If you lose the CD that came with it, you'll have to do a lot of looking around to get your computer to use it. Other than that, it's great, it sits underneath my desk and does it's job. every once inawhile I can hear it kick on/help with the electrical flow, which is good for my computers 🙂

I picked up the same thing a while back. Not as warm for me since I forgot to pickup the rebate form and CompUSA is way too far (1 hour+) to drive to pick up a form, even for $30. Needless to say I'll never forget to check the "wall o' rebates" when I'm there next. It comes with APC software, but it's not that hard to find at APC's site (they make you register to download. I always used bogus info to avoid spam, it still lets you download 🙂

All in all a good deal for what you get considering it's a heavy mofo and most people wouldnt be buying these mail order due to the exorbitant shipping.

I checked online and they want $129, I would like to get this but I am not going to be driving
180 miles to pick this up.

From online it looks like the rebate was only good for the 20 & 21.
