Yeah, those units are uber small (we've got a few in the office). Nice price if you want something to sit in with your stereo stuff to play music.

Do you think it'd work reasonably well as a small mp3 server? Would that be fast enough?

I actually have one of these. I formally used it as my network drive/print server/MP3 server. For these 3 tasks, I felt it was a great little machine. Seemed to run Windows 2000 without any problems and was very quiet. I believe it has 2 PCI slots. It wasn't bad, I just felt it didn't have much room for other upgrades I needed (you'll only be able to fit one HD, so make sure you get a big one).

Good thing it has a CD-ROM. Mine didn't, and finding one is not easy. The CD-ROM drive is a Compaq proprietary one, along with the cable. Many places were selling the drive alone for about $50 (without the cable). Also, I don't think you can upgrade the CPU to anything faster. I think that the bios didn't support it, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, I personally think $99 is pretty good.

I bet it would mount nicely, but I don't know how well the hard drive would survive :)

These things don't look uber small compared to the newish Dell uber small PCs. Of course those Dells aren't $99 but...
