In this Sunday's ad.

MP3 capable, S-Video output, digital coaxial output for sound.

No mention of a "secret menu", but then, if they told you, it wouldn't be a secret anymore, now, would it? :)

For the humor impaired and the strict literalists amongst us; but, most of all, for the innocently uninformed, I feel it incumbent upon me to state for the record that this particular Apex almost assuredly has no "secret menu".

and for what hypothetical functions might this nonexistent secret menu hold? :)

I bet they're disabled. The Apex players were recalled and the loophole was removed. Some of the AD600A's still might have them, but I know the other models do not. There was one manufactured in 1/2000 the other day that was returned and had the loophole on it.

For those who don't know, the loophole allows you the change the region on the player and disable macrovision.

i think that they don't, the majority of the cheaper dvd players don't have them because the manufacturer's are trying to cut costs, and since a lot of home theater receivers have the decoding built in there, it's an obvious place to start.
