i also heard quality degradation on using fm transmitters is pretty bad. most ppl suggest using an audio in or cassette tape convertor.

It is pretty crappy, especially if you have radio stations on or near the 4 frequencies offered by this transmitter. You would be better off to spend a little more and get one that does digital tuning in .1 increments. I have read a lot of good things about the Audia X transmitter. The belkin one was junk in my opinion, but that's just my $.02.

I just bought one of these at the local Wal-Mart, price was $19.99 plus Tax. I tied a Sony cassete adaptor and wasn't impressed with the sound quality. This has much better sound. And in my neck of the woods, there aren't any radio stations broadcasting around those frequencies.

The recently release TuneCast II has digital incremental scanning and memory presets. Froogle has some reasonable prices for it. MacConnection has it in a bundle with the ipod car charger for $40 total. Not too shabby.

I picked one up today, Boston Area. It's working pretty good for me while I was driving around. It's worth it for me, less hassle plus I can play it from any radio in the house as well. Cool stuff.

Why would you need an european tuning for digital transmitter? The belkin should work fine IF you are in the area where there is less stations. If you are in big city, you are better off with cassette adaptor or the FM transmitter that plugged right into the antenna port.

I had had bad luck with FM transmitters before, so I went to the local high end electronics shop, and told them I wanted to listen to my laptop/PDA on the car stereo. They professionally installed an FM modulator (direct connection to the attena) and installed 2 RCA-ins under the dash, near the spare cig lighters. That's the same devide that they use for their CD-Changers. It looks great, it works great, and it was less than $100! (I could've installed it myself, but it wouldn't have looked near as good) :)

edit: more detail!

I've used a rebadged version of the Audia X before. It's cool that you can tune any station, but I thought it was a bit weak in the power department. I returned it and got the Irock 400FM transmitter. It's a little better and I hear you can pump it up by hooking a 9 volt battery to it! Have yet to try it though...
