Warm: ATI Radeon 9600XT $149.99 AR @ CC

$14999 for a 9600xt video card? pricematch to any store and this card will be _almost_ free. 😉

9600xt is not a performance card remember people, its a midrange card comparable to the ti4600 by nvidia, and that right there is 2 year old performance.

Very much a mid level performance card at the mid level, plus directx9 features. Not everyone has $500+ to put down on a 9800xt and as fast as prices fall, why would you.

Performance or not this is a good price for a this card. Like joechaos said paying $500+ for a card that will be worth a 1/3 that in a year is not for everyone. I had a 9600 Pro overclocked to xt speed and it looked great. For how much I wanted to spend it played every game I threw at it.

Yes but I'm afraid people will be swapping out their old Ti4x00 series cards for this. They would barely gain anything and even lose some performance in some games.

?!

The venerable Ti4x00 series of cards are still the best bang for the buck cards under $100, but going from a 4200 to a 9600XT is a noticable improvement. I wouldn't jump on this if I had a 4600, but even in that case you'll be able to run more games well with AA turned on. Remember that a 9600XT is a little faster than a 9500Pro, and when the 9500Pro came out it was neck and neck with the 4600, except that it pulled ahead when AA was used. Now a 9600 level card isn't going to let you turn on AA and run at an acceptable framerate in every game like a 9700/9800 could, which is why I'm reluctant to reccomend any of the current crop of mid-level cards.

On it's own, it's a good price on the best mid-range card out there, though anyone who wants to do serious gaming will want to look @ the $200 mark and the 9700Pro/5900 cards.

More likely than not you'll be told that b/c Circuit City's after rebate price is cheaper than Microcenter, the deal will be shot down. CC doesn't usually pricematch something that's cheaper after rebates than an ad you present, but that's my experience. Maybe yours is different?

IMO the 9800 NON-Pro and PRO are much, much better choices. I admit, at a price, but those extra $50-$100 (NON-Pro vs PRO) will get you HEAPS more of performance.

If you can't afford the 9800 though, the 9600XT is very sweet, esp. with the HL2 deal.

You're kidding right?? I gave my Ti4600 away for a 9600pro and never looked back once.

But the old Ti4x00 cards don't support DirectX 9.0 and the 9600 series cards do.

Good luck getting in on this in the Pittsburgh area - all the stores only received 1-2 cards...and they're not expecting any until Friday.... at which time, they're getting another 1-2 more....

I actually got in on this deal. I pricematched to the microcenter price. The guy doing the pricematch didn't know there were 2 rebates on the card until it started printing out the receipts. The funny thing is I had no idea there was rebates on the card either. I just wanted them to pricematch to the Mirocenter price since Microcenter was OOS. The only problem is....the rebates states "Advertised rebate assumes payment of Circuit City's before-rebate advertised price. Circuit City reserves the right to reduce the fulfilled rebate amout based on price adjustments and/or price matches made on qualifying items" So i might get shot down for the rebates. I'm going to submit the rebates and hope for the best.

Picked up a 9600xt today with hl2 coupon inside in wisconsin. I also noticed a bunch of 9600se's with the coupon as well, just a different picture from the game.

There were none in my area (4 stores in 25 mile radius). However, I was able to "Special Order" the card and the CSR stated that it should be in before the end of January. I had to pay now to have the rebate receipts be valid. If it doesn't come in time to meet the Feb 4 submission date, I'll return it or cordially request that the store make good on the rebates (I'll pester 'em 🙂). This is the only way I have a chance at picking up the card for $150. I had purchased the card for $200 over at Best Buy a couple of days earlier and returned that one (it was still in the wrapper) so this is a real $50 savings - Thanks.
