Just stopped by Walmart this evening (Anchorage, Alaska) and saw they had ATI Radeon PCI 32mb cards on clearance for $35.00 ea. They had 3 at this store.

sku (barcode): 27419-40892
reciept item: 072741940935
Box / Label says: Radeon 32mb SDR ATI / Radeon SDR PCI Video
Desc: Single Head, with TV out.

The clearance label is red, lists $35.00 above a "was $97.82" and has a date of March1st.

This walmart was being remodelled, and these items were on a shelf opposite other items marked deleted. I asked an employee last time I was in and they said that the items were being dropped, and they were clearing the remaining inventoy. Maybe local only, but I game on this card at work, and for $35 it'll do fine in my system. Here's a link to the same product on Outpost:

I don't know that my local Wal-Mart does sell display card. May go and have a look later.

One thing I've always wondered but never can get an answer to is just how well do ATI's PCI vid cards compare to 3dfx's, which supposedly have the best PCI 3D performance out there.

I think the WalMart clearance prices are typically decided on site. I could be wrong about that, but I remember checking multiple stores last year for various items, and they always had different things and different prices on clearance.

I'll check on this though as I am in dire need of a PCI video card.

The first Walmart closest to me didn't answer the phone; the second one did, I asked if they sold computers, and was then transfered to Electronics, where a very bored sales associate gave no hint of knowing what a radeon, much less a graphics adapter, was, and replied in the negative when fed the above SKU.

ymmv.
