Warhammer + Total War

While I would prefer a WH40K game, it might well just be Gamers Workshop/Black Library testing the waters a bit on someone to take over if THQ goes under. Having another developer that has an established working relationship with GW/BL would probably make them the front runner to get the franchise for 40K.

Guess we'll see.

if they turned Warhammer and 40K into a videogame rendition of the TT game, i would play it. Ive never played either one and have wanted to try it.

surprised they havent done something like Magic has. Buy your units and have the boxes shipped to you so you can play online ant TT.

They wont do it because the TT is where all their money comes from. Shit is expensive and gets more expensive. I played Fantasy and 40K and have my armies completed, but if I was just getting into it? I wouldn't even bother after looking at the prices.

A Total War Warhammer game would be great. TW games play different and don't have the same rules as Warhammer but both require the use of large amount of units/troops so it would give the player a good sense of scale still of how they play.

in the past ive bought boxes of Warhammer minis to use for other games. Was in the local game shop the other day looking around and saw a box of Gors was $44. insane.

Yeah, their prices have become LOL worthy to the community now. Even at 30% off it can be a bitter pill to swallow (can find a few sites that do 25-30% of GW stuff). A lot of people that play will buy mini's from other manufacturer because of how cheap they are and use them to play GW games, you just can't do that in a GW store. It has gotten nuts, not only has the price gotten out of hand, but with each new version of the rules they make it so you almost need to have larger armies to play as well and to top it off with new codex revisions they tend to make their elite type units much much better so you nearly have to use them if you want to be competitive (in a lot of cases) and those elite units are always more expensive as well.

Like I said, if I didn't have my armies already I wouldn't play. As much as I am looking forward to my Eldar getting their update next year, I am also a bit scared at all the new stuff that will be added that I'll probably need to buy. Thankfully my other 2 armies are fine (Ogre Kingdoms and Space Marines)

CA has run out of ideas so not surprised they did this. They had to get some fresh ideas from someone and I guess War Hammer was the ticket. Hopefully they won't mess it up.

I regularly walk past a Gamers Workshop store in a local mall, but never once been inside. However, I do hear this a lot. A friend said he was looking to get a space marine figurine that he could just have sitting on his desk at work or something, until he saw it was like $50.

Makes me wonder how much the like 3ft tall Blood Raven statue that used to be in the window of that store would go for. Always told my friend he should buy that, then sneak it into the bedroom at night and see how his wife reacts. 😀 I figured it'd be a twofer: She'd beat him senseless for scaring her senseless, and then beat him senseless a second time when he told her how much it cost.

Well when you buy a squad of them it is that much. If you buy a HQ character space marines that is by himself in a blister they range from $15-$20 now I think (ridiculous I know, but their reasoning is you'll only ever buy one of the HQ characters which is true)

after medieval 2, shogun 2, and now rome 2, i guess they are out.

i'd like a US civil war version though i suppose there aren't enough warring factions for that to make much sense. would be a nice expansion.

I keep seeing this meme running around, and I'm not sure that's true. I think CA/SEGA are trying to make more money. Times are tight.

Yeah, everyone is trying to make money that is a given. I still think they felt they needed a new direction to go. New ideas. This is just one possibility for them now. Whatever the reason like I said I hope they dont mess it up.

Exactly. I, and I'm sure many others, want a fantasy game. The historical games are great, but they have to play loose with history to give you more variety. That's not a problem in a fantasy game.

After Warhammer Fantasy, I'd like to see Titan Legions adapted to the Total War franchise.

I'd like to see something like Supreme Commander in War Hammer 40k universe.
Multiple planets to conquer, put limits on drop ships, Titans and troopers because technology to make them has been lost.

Making a fantasy game with a new IP is a very risky endeavor. Having some already established lore and units hat fit with a TW style play means they can focus more on more important aspects of development.
