Google is surprisingly sparse. Apparently a 2160@3Ghz isn't enough for some of the larger battles. How does it scale with quads? Or would an e84/5/600 be the better choice?

I recently posted about this issue on the Video Cards board (not sure if that's what prompted this post). While browing around the Warhammer Alliance forums, I found out that part of the choppiness is actually due to an issue with how the client processes status updates in large battles. Although other people are reporting everything working perfectly even in large battles, so it's possible it's a combination of things.

So it's possible that the E2160 is actually fine and it's more of a client issue than a hardware issue. That said, I'm leaning towards picking up an E8400 for some good improvements as I'm considering putting a second box together with some spare parts I have laying around anyway.

I've been playing WAR since it came out and I haven't seen this - I get dropped occassionally, very rare latency spikes and there's occassionally some weird graphical bugs (I was running around last night with the guys legs facing forward and the upper torso backward) but it's always run smooth as silk for me (E6700, 4GB RAM, Vista 64, 512MB 8800GT). How large of battles are you talking?

The poster with the e2160@3.0ghz was having problems in 30+ player matches.

edit: yes, Scrimmy prompted this post.

I've been in battles with up to about 18-22 people, but I don't think I've seen one with 30 yet. Maybe I just haven't been in a big enough battle.

I've found unless I'm doing PvE I have to use the best framerate settings to be able to play smoothly in the P v P battles. This is at 1280 x 1024 too. I guess I need to upgrade something :/

Do you guys get smooth play on high quality during the battles?
