Yeah... that's a game for people with a surfeit of both money and free time.

That said, I liked Dawn of War and the fluff on lexicanum is heeeeelarious.

know anything for sale around the twin cities?

would use ebay but then i would have to use paypal. could try to contact local sellers directly and pay with cash or something

Warhammer still exists?

I was even in beta and on release it crashed so much initially on the big end city taking, I and some friends from why back in DAOC all stopped playing.

Just saying.

A long time ago, I played the Warhammer games. Then they change the rules to ruin your army to make you buy more miniatures and army books, so I quit.

Blood Bowl was the last Warhammer game I played. You only need a small amount of miniatures, and the rules have changed less than their other games.

I played more Battletech than any other wargame. I also played a bit of Star Fleet Battles, and several Avalon Hill games.

Used to. Played Nids until 4th then met my current wife. She took all my money and free time...and now my kid saps up the change. I'm ok with it though. Last time I played, too many people have yet to discover the wonders of a shower. And a razor. And sunlight.

I only wish it was a stereotype...

yah 8th looks much worse to play than 7th. my house rules that i have been thinking about would mix 5th with some of the rules from other editions like 7th.

some of the more recently 40k rules look interesting although.

so 2 of the armies that i have been thinking about are wood elves or lizardmen.

should i buy a whole new army for either of them or should i expand on my battle for skull pass starter set?

My advice... buy whatever army whose codex is just about to be released. Games Workshop loves to introduce powercreep (or otherwise completely new rules unique to that army (and the ones after) that existing ones can't deal with) through the newest army books.

I have a half legal 40k army of Iron Warriors. I say half legal because it was built 10 years ago. I am half of my minis are no longer playable. But running around with 4 CCW dreadnaughts was hysterical.

I have an Empire warhamster army that is half built and half still on sprues. I have not played either system for 5+ years, so I am in no rush to get the army done. I try to stay away from dice based games, I don't like winning or losing solely due to die rolls.
