I must admit this,I know people with illegal copies of games and I can get a hand of them whenever I like but I have tried Warcraft3(copie🙂..but this game is so darn good I decided I gonna buy it!I also read it hit 1million sold copies!It makes me glad to know they get rewarded cause they deserve it!
 
goes to show though, how little software pirating effects sales.


eminems latests cd, most pirated cd ever.. still sold millions upon millions of copies.


i'm sure warcraft is up thier among copied games... and it sells better than anyother game.
 
dont take teh wrong way.. i'm not advocating software piracty.. i have a legitamate copy of warcraft III at home, which i have only played twice because it turns out that i dont think its a very good game.

Well, 4.5 million copies were shipped to stores initially. It reached 1 million in sales in record time (fastest selling PC game of all time).
 
i pirated wc3, went out and bought it 3 days later. I always intended on buying it, just didn't feel like going to get it right away.
 
yes it does suck. ITS AN RPG everyone! its not like the timeless starcraft or even w2. w3 gets old quick!

lol an rpg? You must be kidding. There are level ups for one freaking character, you don't even need a hero! That's far from an rpg.
 
I read that pre-sales and initial shipments totaled 5 million copies, 4.5 million of which were sold on the first day. At $60 a pop (more for the deluxe edition) thats almost $300 million for the opening day. If the game makes it to 8 million copies throughout its duration, which is very well could end up at, then it will gross over $500 million, which is only bested by Titanic and Star Wars for total takes for a movie. The video game industry is really taking off, and will overtake the movie industry in a few years. As time goes on, we are going to see more and more money put into game development, which means we will see alot of really nice games in the future.

The computer gaming companies have figured out what Hollywood discovered years ago. You can make formula-driven, uninspired products and they will sell to the masses. They're not works of art but they do make money and the reason they work is because we keep makin' babies....babies who have never seen a better game design!

No, I'm not bitter. I loved WC2 but WC3 was supposed to break new ground but the designers sold out to the Man and made another mass market game. I'm positive many will enjoy WC3 but I won't bother. 🙂
 
The primary reason people who normally borrow software indefinitely are actually paying for warcraft 3 is simply to get onto BATTLE.NET... unfortunately, you can not borrow access to the system w/o having a unique b/net key. 🙂
 
what i'm wondering is when this topic turned into a "Warcraft 3 sucks/is great" debate? I could swear it was about it breaking sales records... Anyway, good for Blizzard, they deserve it.

AFAIK, the gaming industry already takes in more revenues than Hollywood...

I currently do not have a Parhelia.

I hate it because I was hoping for something spectacular. What I got was a complete re-hash of Starcraft, which sucked to begin with.
