I don't have a router (cable modem is plugged into my comp through ethernet cable). I've opened up ports 6112-6119 (both tcp and udp, or whatever the other one is) on my windows firewall stuff. I still can't host games =/

any ideas?

Enable DMZ on your router.

It does make you more vulnerable to the internet, so I suggest that you only enable it when you plan on hosting a game.

You've got a static IP right Dragoon? And your ISP does not block game servers? If you're unsure about either call the company.

If all that's OK, get someone to ping you and try telnetting to the ports in question, see if they get denied.

Try disabling Windows Firewall. For some reason, when I started hosting games, it wouldn't let others see/connect to my game unless I disabled it, even with the proper ports forwarded. Then when I re-enabled it a few hours later to try and troubleshoot, everything works like a charm!

I usually just disable Windows Firewall altogether and use some other sort of freeware(or some people buy their own such as Norton or McGayfee).

Sometimes Windows Firewall closes ports or does strange things and a lot of software linked to the web just doesn't work properly. I had the same problems with Starcraft

gahh....i'd hate the thought of doing this. I don't have any other firewall program. I'm gonna give this a try though. It use to work when i had a router, but now it doesn't @.@

hrm...i just turned off my windows firewall and it still said that my norton one was running. I got norton anti-virus but I didn't think it messed with the ports? Do i need to do something with this or not?

Try adding the warcraft 3 EXE to the trusted list in the Norton Antivirus thing. I do remember some kind of firewall of a sort built into the last Norton I used, which was 2005. That would DEFINITELY stop WC3 from being seen on the network.

Consider getting ZoneAlarm Firewall and disabling Windows Firewall. ZoneAlarm is probably the most user friendly firewall I've seen AND it's very easy to know when something is getting blocked due to it. Get a pop-up most of the time. If no pop-up then you can look in the logs and see what's being blocked and allow it. I run ZoneAlarm while using my VPN at work, and it was very easy to get it working correctly. Even with all the servers, etc I had to connect to. It blocks a TON of shiznit everytime I'm on VPN too from hitting my PC
