WarCraft III related upgrade: GPU or CPU limited?

I recently purchased WarCraft III and Frozen Throne (yeah, I'm going legit - games I like I buy now :) )

Here's my platform:
Pentium III-750E/440BX/512MB/Radeon DDR (Roughly 2500 3D2001SE Marks, 2700 Marks max under VGA and 16-bit color)

I run WarCraft III at 1024x768x32, since that is what looks best on my monitor. However, I have noticed that my gameplay slows down even in single player mode, especially when lots of spells and atmospheric effects are flying around. I tried lowering the resolution, but the game looks a bit fuzzy (text and graphics aren't as well defined) when I do this.

Question: Am I limited by a slow CPU, or a slow GPU? Would a cheapo Radeon 9000 help me out any? Or is my CPU simply too slow?

I'd say CPU.

I ran Warcraft III on a mid-range Pentium4 system with an old GeForce DDR card, and it was fine.

Definitely CPU and you would find upgrading to a RAdeon 8500 or gf3 together with the CPU to be a better option.
