A friend of mine brought a CD of W3 into college so we could install it on some comps and have a couple of lan games during boring labs. It installed fine on about 4 comps, and we had a few nice games. I got the CD off him so I could install on more computers around the college, cos we did the same with Starsiege:Tribes. On most of the computers I try to install it though it installs fine, but I can't run it. The screen goes black and i get a little window that pops up called "War3:War3.exe - Application Error" and inside it says:
"The instruction at "0x6f0cc369" referenced memory at "0x000000000". The memory
could not be 'read'
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program"
Clicking on CANCEL doesn't do anything much as far as I was able to see, the box is replaced with a grey blank, and the computer will stay like that forever until you end the program. Clicking on OK goes back to desktop, but the gamma is set really high. This is version 1.12 of W3, on Windows 2000 SP4. It works on some computers, and not on others. Reinstalling doesn't seem to work. Help anyone?
