Ok, so I'm walking through a cavern with 11 guys. I walk up to a big door, it goes to a cutscene about waking up some guy, then it retuns me to control of my characters, and I have 6 guys. WTF is up with that? POS.

I bought this game off a forum member here a week or so ago. I played about 10 minutes of it. Formated and did a fresh install the next day and it's not been back. Maybe battlenet is good but with 56k I'll never know. I do know sp is awful though... oh well.

very fun game in multi but you really gotta devote yourself to it or you'll get stomped to the point of frustration

Dont worry, they split you up into 2 groups here. The Priestess of the Moon continues insided with some archers, and the Keeper of the Grove continues in the cave with druids. Kind of sucks, but it happens and at least if you were down to no units this lets you start over. Also, this shouldnt be a spoiler, but as the Priestess said she is going inside to free Illidan, and he is perhaps the most kickass character in the entire game. He only gets one mission though, but it's a good one.

I think it rules...great multiplayer and blizzard always supports their games very very well with balance patches. I'm currently playing the frozen throne on warforge and I hate it because I blow at it. It seems like as you get good though, the game becomes very very addicting. By the way, I never played the single player...I cna't sit and play single player computer games. For me it's all about the competition...

Yeah I quote like it too but can be tough and frustrating at times....and time consuming.

It's quite different to the previous one...I can see that there are probably people who liked WC2 but not 3 and vice versa.

I didn't even finish SP.
Its all about the MP.
I even played the beta to death, and I still baught the game just to play MP. The only problem is.. to enjoy it, you have to be good.

Multi player (especially against the computer) the combination of Priestess + Keeper is a real killer, especially if you can get a necklace of spell immunity. Take hits with other units, and stand behind them with healing and starfall.

Only thing I like better than that combo against the computer is Undead. Undead sucks when you first play it, as it requires a different play style, but with banshee with all upgrades (possession) and Vampiric Regeneration level 3 + Unholy Aura you are almost invincible. Especially against humans. Possess a peon and get him to your base safely (gotto walk back, can't recall possessed units), build town hall + blacksmith + barracks + altar, get a castle and upgrade all melee skills, get a paladin as third character and build knights. Protective aura + all upgrades + undead heros will give knights with armor class 15, faster speed/regen, and 45% regen from the damage they deal. Use sleep to knock out special abilities of enemy heros, surround them and kill them first. Heal the knights with the paladin, and the vampiric regen guy with the other undead hero. Make sure you have a few crypt friends to bring down enemy flyers so your melee units can take em out.

If they all hit level 6+ you can stun enemies with the inferno, resurrect your units, and raise the dead.

Sleep/Vampiric regen/Inferno are better to my opinion than the Keeper's powers.

As for the single player part: Just keep playing. It's annoying a while, but you'll get past that, and the final level is rocking. It is possible to do the final level without losing a single defensive line, but it's extremely hard. Try to make it :) (Hint: Start on a second mine immediately, to double your income. Third if you still run low. Build a new base in the human base at the bottom. Use Starfall on the heaviest attacks, the healing one on the softer ones. Stock up on archers.)
Note: It is not possible without cheats to actually take out the bad guy at the end, so don't bother. He can wipe out all your units in a few seconds without getting hurt if you really insist on attacking him. If you kill him he is immediately resurrected (few times max).

War3 0wns.

Me and my buddies have so much fun playing on battle.net. Since we don't have endless hours to devote to getting good, we lose 3/4 of the time, but we have fun coming up with ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS strategies and having tons of fun. Ever seen a militia rush? Build a town hall outside enemy base, call to arms, send in like 50 militia....LOL

Sometimes we just defend our bases to the death and don't even leave them, see how long we can last.

One time we were drunk and did a Wisp rush...i almost broke my ribs from laughing when we went into the base with them all (at least 100 between the two of us)

Single was good but not as good as expected, just too short. I'm a huge single player fanatic though being a modem user for most of my life. Regular multiplayer is lame, roleplaying multi and storylines are decent, tower defence is where it is at though. Thats the only thing that keeps me playing it

It's reasons like these for why I wish my friends would buy WC3

I played the SP campaign through the first couple Orc missions right after the game came out, then I got distracted (by Morrowind I think) and stopped playing for a long time. Picked it up again this weekend and played through up 'till the first few Night Elves missions. It's fun, but not as addicting as some past Blizzard RTS games.

I love the fully rendered Blizzard cutscenes, reason enough for me to finish SP eventually. The whole low maintenance / high maintenance thing kind of coaxed me into starting to figuring out what micromanagement is all about (as opposed to C&C Generals where my strategy consists of gathering more money than my opponent and pumping out units). The funny thing is most of SP I've stayed in "no maintenance" mode, and ended the mission with insanely high resource reserves. I have no doubt that my miserly playstyle wouldn't cut it in MP.

Hmmm

I loved the single player. The story line was great and the cut scenes were pretty cool too.

I can't stop playing it on B.net. hehe

I'll probably go buy the Expansion pack when it comes out. Looks pretty good.
