Probably because you're still thinking in Warcraft mode.

Have you tried saving a replay and watching them play? If not, tsk tsk from another competitive gamer.

You gotta level up your hero quickly...
as soon as you spawn do this...

Build a farm/moonwell/whatever
Build a Alter of elders/storms/etc.
Build a Barracks/Ancient of War/etc.

Get 3 footmen/archers/grunts/whatever and your hero and go start killing creeps like a madman. At the same time watch your town build it up.

You will eventually get the hang of it. You could always put on "Always visible" so you can watch what the computer does and learn from that. Try some of those 6vs6 battles, they are incredible!

i do put it on "always visible" , and i build exactly in that order. but whenever my army clashes with the computers', i just get creamed. leaves me in a shitty n bitter mood :(

I dont know, I have beaten the computer pretty easily, but I would modestly say I am pretty good at the game. Basically it likes to send 3 or 4 units at a time to your base just like in starcraft. However, you can easily kill them and get the much needed experience.

What is really fun is a 12 player FFA against the computer. Intelligently, all of the comps do not simultaneously rush you so it is actually quite doable and fun since you end up getting 10th level heros and several expansions

I mean, what the hell do I know about Warcraft 3? Its not even out yet :Q

From what I've noticed - the comp is extremely good at the early game but it'll die off in the long game. I'm working on 2v3 now.

I figured it out. if u play the comp 1v1 in a big map (ie 6 pr map) you can easily beat him. however ina small 4 plr map, its a totally different beast, almost impossible to beat w/o a lotta luck.

I played the comp 1vs1 twice. First time I got my arse kicked, the second time I beat them. To beat them I just would not let them get an expansion. I was there halfway through it was built and destroyed it. Make sure you have an expansion as well. So you'll be raking in the gold and the comp will get 1/2 the gold. That worked and I just started playing on Bnet.

All the people who are having trouble beating the computer 1v1, have you beaten the campaign? If not, then, well, that's your problem...

saying you should be good in w3 because you were good in w2 is just plain dumb. It's like saying I dont know why I cant beat the hardest computer bots at UT!!! but I dont know why I mean I was a top doom player back in the day....

It's not the same game.

Campaign is vastly different than single player 1v1 matches. I can beat the last level on normal without even loosing the human outpost and I still get my butt kicked sometimes. Anyways the key is to expand quickly and level up your heroes. I find it easy to beat the computer on bigger maps but it gets tricky on the 1vs1 maps. The computer gets forces pretty quick and by the time I'm clearing stuff I will be around level 3 while he has a level 5ish hero and there won't be anymore creep around.

Err not hard, normal :)
