WAR vs. RoM

I recently downloaded the WAR trial and have been playing it for the past few days. The PvE is severely lacking (which isn't really a problem for me, because I PvP more than anything), but I think the RvR concept is kind of cool. The one thing I have noticed is that all PvP seems to be the same thing over and over, back and forth between a certain ORvR area, or doing a scenario over and over again. I was thinking about downloading Runes of Magic, which I have heard some good things about, and trying it out, especially because it is free, unlike WAR. What kind of PvP content is in RoM? I read somewhere they were planning on adding much more PvP content in the future, and if so that would be very appealing to me. It would be nice to have some opinions from people who have played both games, and what they think about the two.

I liked WAR, but there's just not enough going on to make it fun. It's very pretty compared to RoM - looks make it feel more polished. But then again, it's rock-paper-scissors when it comes to PvP, and didn't feel right to me (but it was fun).

RoM has grindfest written all over it. It's great for it's price though... which is part of the reason I avoid subscription games now... there's just no point in paying.

WAR, hey... what is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

On an unrelated note, I liked the character RoM from Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

This is true, WAR's the same as any other grind mmo except you're for the most part doing it vs other players :)

So yeah, you'll be doing a lot of the same things over and over. There are a great many classes and abilities to explore though, not to mention a pretty large world. They're also working on more instances, there are several now.

The fact that the devs seem relatively patient in their methods, and that they are orienting more towards pvp than anything else, keeps me playing.

never tried RoM - no interest

I have played both,WAR has better graphics but lacks content in PvE,its more of a grind fest then RoM for sure,RoM is free and you can have dual classes(I had no problem getting my dual classes to 50/50 ).

RoM server I'm on is very active player wise and loads of guilds, instances are fun plus they have new content just added(45+ area called Ravenfell) and even other huge areas for your alt class to level up from level 1 etc..RoM is better of the two IMHO and I'm enjoying it more then WAR,its not pefect but probably the best free MMORPG out there at the moment.

RoM has both PvP and PvE servers so take your pick,I don't know why you don't find out for yourself since its free.

I'm never going back to WAR not worth the sub IMHO.

War is Warhammer Online, and RoM is Runes of Magic, both MMOs. Ya Mem, I was going to dload RoM last night but forgot. Also, I noticed it had a diamond system via cash like most other free MMOs. At this point, how important is paying real money to be competitive? A lot of times MMOs are 'free' but you have to pay to be able to do much or be competitive.

Well AH at the moment has both diamonds and obviously gold as free trade so basically you can sell/buy stuff in gold or diamonds so your choice, this gives you chance to get diamonds so basically you can buy diamond related items from cash shop or AH
etc...you can also get quite a few Phirius tokens via quests and daily quests too so can buy some selective items in cash shop (token section).

1 diamond goes from anything from 2k to 10k gold on AH depending on server etc....
