I cringed when I first heard Bush talk about "war on terror" a year ago. Shouldn't it be a "War on Terrorism"? I mean... I cause terror all the time, and I don't see soldiers parachuting down, capturing me, and sending me to Cuba.

I was more discouraged by calling it a war on terror. Look how well our war on drugs is going...

Well, Bush is too stupid to say a 4-syllable word, so his speechwriters just put "terror" wherever "terrorism" should go. :)

ACK! i hate this term... It's what the news people say whenever they are talking about Osama BinLaden, etc. What a stupid expression:frown:

We are the promoters of terrorism all around the globe; if our motives were truly to discontinue terrorism as a practice, our foriegn policy would implode.

Bush is from the south and the accent and pronunciation can be quite different. It is not stupidity but culture and environment that dictate how you will speak.

If Bush were black you would be considered a racists for that comment.

We are starting to get articles from reporters that are close to Bush and his cabinet. The reporters think Bush is anything but stupid!

In Russia, terror declares war ON YOU!!!

I mean seriously, those Chechens and Russian mobsters aren't the type I'd mess with anytime soon, and they WILL take time out of their day to torture you if you cross 'em the wrong way...

Four years at Yale will not negate a lifetime of Southern Culture. I know many people that talk just like him. Many are highly educated.

Talking in public would have 99% of us stumbling and looking a lot worse. Public speaking takes practice and some never get it down. That does not mean they are stupid!

Southern culture and attending yale do not neccesarily make one smart either....
I know many people that talk like him too, and most of them are morons like him.

I know people with PHDs that are idiots. They know there profession, but many everyday tasks completly mystify them.

Making fun of Bush's pronunciation leds you no credence in calling him stupid. Clinton was stupid. Gore was even worse! I can explain why I think that way and have done so in many threads. Most here call Bush stupid without ever giving a reason.

For an example...

If the definition of moron includes the ability to always have your opponent underestimate you, crush them at the polling booth, get the UN onboard with your foreign policy, get NATO onboard, get the funds to put the military back in order and give the troops a commander in chief they respect, make LittleDick Gephardt punt and Tom Daschle foam at the mouth and cry just before imploding then being a moron must be OK.

Moonbeam,

If he is as moronic as you insist, then he has led an administration which in the past year has stripped away the skin of the constitution layer by layer and is now eyeing the meat, while the public sits around with a collective dumb look on its faces, unaware of or apathetic to this. He is not as eloquent as Clinton was, but he still seems able to slip one by on the majority of this country.

You evidently have no idea how our government works......the word stupid comes to mind....;)

Ashcroft and Bush can do nothing without the Court's approval. Maybe moron fits better?

Tom,

You are just as quick to throw around insults as the folks whom you're defending our fearless leader from. Who appoints judges to the court again?

Clinton had more judges appointed than either Bush.....not that it matters. They say what goes or does not regardless of who appointed them.

I think you may have missed the intent of my post. I don't mean to insinuate that Bush, Ashcroft, and the rest of the Administration is passing legislation in secret without the approval of congress. I am simply implying that the implications of the simple solutions to this country's problems (some of which can be attributed to this type of leadership) seem to pass by most voters, or at least take a back seat to their fear for safety or lust for vengeance.

I can't argue that and I have REAL problems with some of the passed and proposed legislation. However, I do have confidence in a individual like Bush more so than a 'Slick Willie.'

I see no other person or party offering anything that even will remotely help protect the US from another 9/11. Bush is trying and so far the public is solidly behind him.

I will be keeping a VERY close watch!

Yes.. you're unpatriotic if you don't support the "patriot bill". Great strategery on that one.

For an example...

clinton was a rhodes scholar..he does the nytimes crossword puzzle for fun everyday. gore and bush, they received "gentlemen's Cs" at their respective ivy league institutions. i grew up in the south too, and i know plenty of southerners who can pronounce words accurately and not constantly bumble w/double-negatives.
