War of the Worlds

You probably should try turning off the computer then. The original is a classic, one of the best films ever made, and they replay the radio broadcast every year to boot.

Yeah, Orson Wells scared the bejesus out of a bunch of people with the radio broadcast. Some people actually thought the planet was being invaded by aliens.

My wife gave me a DVD copy of this movie for Christmas. I got a little upset because I told her how bad the new, Tom Cruise version was. I was relieved to find that she had given me the original 1953 version. It IMHO is so much better then the newer, crappy movie (for me to poop on!)

It even includes the audio from the Orson Welles 1930's radio broadcast that caused the scare.

Did you notice that the Grandparent's in the end of the movie were Barry and Robinson who were in the original and first War of the Worlds movie?

I was going to write a rant about this movie, but searched first...so I'll rant here. The little girl in this movie is fvcking annoying! Her constant crying, screaming, and complaining really hurt this movie badly. I was elated to see her get taken up by the machine.

I hated both kids, the boy was annoying too.

Its like oh look the US Army is getting its butts kicked, i'm gonna go help out!

Man, the new War of the Worlds is horrendous. I think that was the worst movie I saw in 2005, even worse (though just slightly) than Bride and Prejeduce.

Essentially the machines got a cold and that conked them out. That's not what I disliked. The story was intriguing, just the acting was awful. That b!tch that Dakota Fanning played should have been strung up by her intestines by one of those monsters. Her shrieking was probably what truly destroyed the alien machines.

Then the way that stupid ass son of Cruise's ran off to join the army. That was lame. And then he lived yet! ARGHH! awful.

Or how about the "whatever you hear don't open your eyes" scene where cruise takes out Tim Robbins' character. Bizarre.

I think I need to hear the original radio play to get a better idea of what the story could be. B/c this was truly awful.

I believe in the novel, the machines couldn't handle the humans (/earth's) diseases and they died off
