Explain to me how getting my own cd-key is piracy, there's a difference between a cd-key grabber and a cd-key generator.

Why dont you look in your registry to check what your cd key is then.

Blizzard doesn't want anyone that can work an MPQ viewer to be able to get a cd-key off any old computer...The cd-key is encrypted. Hence why I need the grabber.

Have you tried google.com dds14u

Yes I have tried google...after looking at all the negative feedback I've gotten u could understand why I used this forum as a last resort =P

if the sticker get scratched i would suggest contact blizzard and tell them so, they'll probably tell you to fax a scan of it and they'll give you a new one.

First off, it's not "negative" feedback, it's friendly words of advice. Second, refine your search as I found what you needed in 0.19 seconds according to google :)

think about it. there's really no way we can verify that you're actually using a legit cd. now i'll go ahead and give you credit and assume this is for nothing devious. but...what if someone goes ahead and posts up the grabber and someone else uses it for piracy. sure, in your case none ocurred but nonetheless the forums became a conduit for illegal software use. suddenly it becomes liable for unintended consequences of your actions.

it's a much easier gig if there's no piracy on the boards at all.

If you understood the intricacies of the situation you'd understand that there's no way this could turn into some piracy lawsuit. The grabber only takes the cd-key from the software you have already installed. Any illegitimate cd-keys would stay just that, there'd be no way this program used in conjunction with the host woftware would lead to any kind of as u say...illegitimacy or priacy

It's scratched up pretty bad...as in half of it is missing. They would question me cutting it in half on purpose to try to get two cd-keys or something. The grabber comes with convenience.

Well if your local cafe is using the cd's to run the program itself, there'd be an easier way to steal (pen and paper).

Couldn't you give them the pic along with your encrypted CD key from the registry?

So do they have special cafe versions that dont require cds? I have no idea, i only play cs and that doesn't need the cd to play. But ive seen people ripping cdkeys at cafes before, figure you can do it to a machine there, w/ or w/o the cd present.

Do you all remember what game this is? You can't use a pirated cd-key to play on battle.net, so it would be pointless to go to any trouble to get a non working cd-key off his computer. And if he did have a pirated key, who needs a grabber, just google it sheesh.

Flame him and make yourselves look stupid.

And no I don't have a cd-key grabber, I haven't played since WC3 beta way back.

I think manual de-bugging from a pic of an ecrypted CD key is more trouble than they're willing to go through.

That sounds familiar....something like what I was just thinking in my head... =D

One second here...take a little closer look at what you found, is it an updated version that works for 1.16? I'm assuming not. Show me some more friendliness then plz.

How many discs do you know have the cd-key on the disc itself? So you likely couldn't just get it from the CD in the drive at an internet cafe.

You're just plain lazy man. Seriously, Google or any other search engine could've found this for you 10000X faster, but you were just too lazy to look.

What happened to manners again. Does saying I'm using this as a last resort register to you the fact that I've already tried Google, which is not turning an updated version of what I'm looking for? No flame plz, if you have nothing nice to say I'm really just gonna ignore it from now on.
