WAP Software?

I need to set up a wireless network (only temporary). I have a laptop with a Ethernet port and a Wi-Fi Card.

How do I simulate a Wireless Access Point using software? I've googled and have been unable to find the required software? (SoftAP?)

P.S. AdHoc won't work for my purposes!

LOL. May be he wants to change his name to LastGuy2getWAP.

Otherwise, http://research.microsoft.com/netres/projects/virtualwifi/default.htm

There are few companies that sell WAP software.

Problem, it costs more than a good Router that can be use as an Access Point.

I'll look into this. I was hoping avoiding spending money but if worse comes to worse I'll just buy a Nintendo Ethernet Adapter and plug it in my existing network...

And it was the last ps2 in the store I bought it at.

=P

How so? Can it be done with a live linux distribution (AKA Knoppix?) How exactly would I set this up?

-Thanks

For Linux I think you'd use a software program called hostapd. Not sure if a live cd supports this or not.
