Wants to verify AMD CPU speed...

Hello...I just had a computer built by a local integrator. I specified an AMD XP1700+ CPU with an ABIT KG7 mobo and 256 MB PC 2100 DDR RAM.

While I wont say I distrust the integrator, I will say that I did not see them install the CPU or the DDR RAM.

The OS is WIN XP HOME and Norton Utilities 2002 is installed on the system.

How can I verify that I actually received an AMD XP1700+ CPU and 256 MB PC 2100 DDR RAM? (without opening the case and looikng inside and removing the hsf etc?)
Thank you.

Well, you could either look at the screen when the computer boots up to see the procesor spec. Or you could search for a program called wcpuid which will tell you what kind of cpu you have. As for the ram and mobo just look inside the case! :)

you could also use sisoft sandra to get an guesstimate since it benchmarks your stuff, and has stats on other cpus/memory & hard drive configs, etc..

SiSoftware Sandra shows CPU clock speed as 1.1Ghz..but here is what the BIOS on the mobo reads:

CPU Operating Speed 1700+(133)
Multiplier factor x11
FSB Rate Clock (Mhz) 133
FSB Rate CPU:SDRAM:pCI) 4:4:1
Speed Error Hold Disabled

I am not sure how to interpret SisOftware Sandras CPU speed reading perhaps its reading from the FSB?

But the above numbers look ok. My ABIT KG7 manual says CPU Speed=External clock*Multiplier factor.
So that means my CPU speed is 133*11=1463Mhz or 1.463 Ghz about right.

So what is Sisoftware Sandra and WCPUclk really measuring?
Thanks.

Make sure you have the latest version of Sandra, but otherwise you look OK, esp. if the BIOS is reporting 133x11. I've got an 1800+ (133x11.5), but when I crank the FSB, it reads in Sytem Properties as a 1900+. The BIOS doesn't lie though.

I cant change the FSB speed ONLY but can only change USER DEFINED CPU Operating Speed to the next level or 1800+Mhz.
My CPU FSB, FSB Rate, and Speed Error Hold are greyed out.
My next two CPU Operating Speed choices show 1800 and 1900Mhz if I select user defined. Cant select ONLY and change CPU FSB or FSB rate.

Just want to make sure I am getting the max performance out of this box.
Thanks.
