I have a MSI Megabook GX620-100, Its has a Socket P Intel Core 2 Duo 2.20Ghz Processor.
Will putting a new CPU increase anything I currently do on my computer or should I look at increasing RAM first?

My setup
CPU: 2.20 Ghz Processor
GPU: NVidia Gt9600m
RAM: 4 Ghz (I'm not sure about the clock speed)

I have had this computer for about a year, and its starting to bog down a bit.

We're not mind readers, so we don't know what you do on your computer.
Help us... Help you! :\

* Tell us what tasks you run
* Tell us what OS you're running
* Tell us what HD you have in the laptop

My wild guess is that your slowdown is more due to a bloated OS and apps running or slow HD or both.

If you don't already have an SSD, that's probably going to be your best upgrade.

But, like Blain said, we need to know what you plan to do to know where the priority lies.

I'm playing all sorts of video games on it ex. Mass Effect 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Etc. I just notice that my CPU is always jumping to 80% and above which causes a bit of lag.

Some things you could try are closing background programs or reformatting.

I'm betting the graphics card is the culprit though. Upgrading that will probably be expensive or possibly not do-able.

So the GPU would be the bottleneck in my system?I guess I could Reformat... I just hate having to re-install everything...

That CPU is plenty fast enough for a laptop. Spend the money on a SSD and clean install your OS, apps, get the latest BIOS and drivers.

Download Game Booster. It's a freeware app that shuts down all your unneccessary services and processes with a push of a virtual button. It's not as good as a clean install, but can delay having to do that fresh install for a few months.
