Wanting to update my PC Speakers. Any Ideas?

I have an old set of Cambridge Soundworks. 2 sats. and 1 sub. with a wired volume control.

I want something < $100. 2+ sats with a sub. and the volume control must be wired.

So far this is what i've looked at:

$83.95 Creative Inspire 5.1 5200 75watts
$115.95 Logitech Z-2200 200watts
$80.00 Logitech Z-3 speaker system 80watts
$86.00 Creative Inspire T5400 5.1 200watts

None of the above. Get the Creative I-Trigue 3500s for $99, or the Altec Lansing 2.1s for $99.

Definitely don't get any inspires.

For top notch, get Klipsch Promedia 2.1s or Creative Megaworks 250D, both around $150.

Use your currrent Speakers for the rear and get some Klipsch Promedia 2.1's for the front...

Klipsch... why didn't I think of that. Nice idea. I think I'll go with the Promedia 2.1.
It's on pricewatch for $115, but with $35 shipping.

Shipping from Klipsch for the referb is $21.85
For a total of $121.84

Not a bad deal. You think referb should be trusted?

Only thing is, is that it's an older model. The picture is different. And the new is about $20 more.

On Refurbs I would trust them over anyone else offering them... I couldn't inform you of the differences between the older and new ones but mines which are the 1st release are still running strong with my older 2.1's in the rear. 4.2 sound is awesome 😉
You can look for Amazon Coupons and get free shipping Here other than checking for deals @ your B&M stores or hitting up the ForSale/Trade Forum for a deal on used ones...I'm outta ideas

how flexible are you with your budget? are you firmly determined to get a subwoofer? if was in the market for 2.x speakers i would be getting these. some like klipsch but personally i think they have shrill and sibilant highs, hollow mids. bass is pretty good but somewhat exaggerated and boomy for me, and none of this can be cured completely by messing with EQs

The other thing about the referb is they don't have a wired controller.
With the placement of the speakers it be awkard to have to adjust the volume at the speaker.
Same with the HiVal speakers.

why get kilipsch when you can get swans, and siroccos? Heard edirol MA10Ds are real good also, never seen one in action tho..
only cuz you said if budget is allowed 😉
