I'm wanting to make a personal website and possibly some other sites for friends/family. I've always wanted to learn how to make a website the right way (no templates, decent graphics/layout) so I'm thinking of getting a couple books. The two I'm looking at getting are:

Photoshop 7/ImageReady for the Web Hands-On Training

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX Hands-On Training

The price is $65 for them both but I figure if I can learn how to make a decent website then that's a cheap price to pay (considering I pay ~$80/year on a host).

What do you guys think? Are these books all I need? Any other choices? Opinions?

Neither one of those books will teach you design. How to operate the software is important to know, but it's not too useful if you don't know what you're trying to make with it.
