with my patheticly poor knowledge of *nix i seriously doubt

capybara, I'm also waiting for Xandros to release something to the public. Corel was my favorite distribution, but it's really getting old.

I'm currently writing this from Mandrake 8.2. So far, I like it, but I'd like to see what Xandros comes up with before I commit to Linux and drop Windows.

dude. debian rocks my world. and yeah, it's hard to get used to at first but the best way to learn is to jump head first into something in which you're clueless about. i say go for it, you definetely won't regret it!

dont let debian intimidate you. its great and thoroughly easy to use if u have any linux experience.

the installer != fun , but its functional and it gets the job done (maybe not the first time, caues u will mess it up your first time). anyway, debian is great, it doesnt need the polishing that corel or xandros put into it (i liked corel when i tried it htough).

Both Corel and Libranet(sp?) are Debian derivatives I believe. Thats why I mentioned it. And the Debian install is a pain, unless you have the cds (download the isos), or read the documentation in order :p

I screwed up my Debian install though, stupid hardware :/
