Wanted to make an observation about Bill O'Reilly

I guess I'm the only Democrat that likes O'Reilly. He's very intelligent, asks good questions, and I like his style of yelling at people that try to dodge questions or change subjects.

It's his show and he can do whatever he wants. Like "Amused" stated above..... It's his show, it's his Opinion. If you disaggree, don't watch the show.

That is not going to help anyone who considers The Factor to be a legitimate news source.

So you're telling us that a Newspaper labels each of thier columns/articles as Opinion, Fact or BS? Well who would read the paper then? **LMAO** Hmmmmm, 50 Opinion, 20 BS and 3 Fact articles, no thanks.

Have you ever READ a newspaper? No one is without bias (which is why Fox News's "Fair And Balanced" tagline is so ludicrous), however reputable newspapers do make it a point to try to identify opinions, commentaries and editorials and place them in a separate area from actual news reporting.

His reporting is more accurate than most papers. At least they try to get the truth before the report.

What reporting?

Yeah, I tend to agree with you--while he's very hotheaded (I wouldn't want to be stuck debating him!), he's also smart, agile, and doesn't let people screw around and dodge questions.

O'Reilly is entertainment... nothing more. Conservative viewers tune in to watch O'Reilly beat liberals senseless in a forum where they can not hope to defend their position.

Precisely.

Bill's entertainment - period. The problem arises from people who mistake his views to be news and parrot it off incessantly as though it were objective, exhaustively researched fact.

It doesn't help that Bill takes himself entirely too seriously as a "reporter".

I used to listen to his radio show for the reasons you describe, but in the last 1-2 years he seems to have gone into a total meltdown. If you want a good example of it, look into his feud with Keith Olberman, especially the part about him having Fox security harrass a caller to his show who merely mentioned Keith's name.

OK, I usually watch MSNBC at nights from 8-11 or so. There's very little on TV these days wirth watching so I'd rather watch news. So I decided to turn it to Fox News tonight and watch O'Reilly for a bit to see what all the hubbub is about.

Does this man not let his guests speak or does he constantly talk over them and continue to ask multiple and unrelated questions while his guests try to answer the first one? His style seems to mirror that of Nancy Grace. Bully and belittle while not trying to hear the opposite side of the argument.

I watch Scarborough Country and Joe is a Repub, but he seems to be a little less fierce when it comes to his guests.

Anyway, just an onbservation. Not really meant as a political discussion, but more of a delivery style critque.
yes this is P&N. are you afraid to post in there? 😛

agreed. the times he interrupts people is when the guest is trying to promote some agenda that has nothing to do with the question. If I ask you a question about apples, and you start yapping about oranges, of course I'm going to cut you off, this is my show. If you want to talk about oranges, start your own show.

Except that's not always what happens. A lot of times it goes like this:

O'Reilly: Now Mr. Jzero, why would you say that your apples are better than Daveymark's apples?

Jzero: Well, our apples are grown on an independent orchard in New Jersey where --

O'Reilly: Let me stop you there, Jzero. Wasn't New Jersey one of the places that was willing to sell operations of its ports to potential terrorists from Dubai?

Jzero: Yes, but we don't import the apples we grow them.

O'Reilly: Just answer my question - was NJ going to sell its port operations to terrorists? Yes or no?

Jzero: Yes, but -

O'Reilly: No buts! You grow apples in NJ, you support selling our jobs and our security to terrorists. I'll let you have the final word.

Jzero: Thanks, Bill. Jzero Orchards has nothing to do with -

O'Reilly: And that's all the time we have for today. Thanks, Jzero.

That is DildO'Reilly to the fuvking tee.

When considering a thread for OT, if you have to ask yourself whether it should go in P&N instead, it probably should.
