so im building myself a comp for christmas and what yall thought of these parts:

Athlon 64 2800+ ($127 + free ship)
Abit "KV8 Pro" ($85 +free 2day shipping)
BFG 6800OC ( best buy deal with HL2) <--- already have
Seagate 80GB SATA HDD ($69)
Mushkin 512mb pc 3200 ($67) probably will get 2 sticks

I have a case with a 350watt pwr supply, i think im just gunna use that for now, and i have a dvdburner.

any better options with out deviating much if any from the price???

The chaintech in thread #1 of this forum is $12 cheaper and apparently very reliable, but everything looks fine as-is.

Make sure the PSU is quality, and do switch to an NF3 250 motherboard (Chaintech for $75 or the DFI for $99 and supreme overclocking). Other than that, you should be satisfied with the rig.

would a 350watt psu be enough for this? newegg has a 530watt Fortron for $77... but is that necessary
I have a dvdburner, cdburner, and that harddrive... thats all thats would probably be plugged in

ts stated that you would want to buy a good quality PSU that provides "clean" power to your components.

This guide on Tom's web site I found would be very helpful in how to find such a PSU:

Or you can simply get any of the Antec True series PSU's or Enermax's PSU's.

what do yall think of the Thermaltake Silent PurePower, 420W ATX

one day sale its only $35.99

It's of good quality. Not exactly silent though when it's temp control is on auto and it decides to run it's fans on full blast. You can change it's temp control to manual, but when it's going full blast in auto mode it's for a reason.

http://www.overclockersonline.com/ has just about every PSU imagined reviewed.
